Ipswich becoming a managerial graveyard? 16:47 - Nov 12 with 1523 viewsTNBlue

After the latest casualty Paul Hurst - a guy proven to be woefully out of his depth at this level but considering his lower league success perhaps worth a punt, I got to thinking of our last few managers whose careers have basically ended at Portman Road. Going all the way back to Joe Royle, here's a record of our managers and what happened to them after leaving PR...

Joe Royle - retired
Roy Keane - sacked, now a grumpy pundit on ITV
Paul Jewell - sacked, spent one month as asst at Oldham Athletic last year
Mick Mcarthy - hounded out, still to find new managerial role.
Paul Hurst - sacked, be lucky to get another league manager's job

Not good reading is it?

Only 2 Managers in our history have gone onto better things though.

EDIT; that might be a bit harsh on George who did after all manage Scotland.

In PL’s case it could be one to re-establish a managerial reputation.

Another one thought he was, Bill McGarry,he mostly did ok at Wolves but the person that replaced him here did quite well too.

It may also say Evans is a very generous settler of contracts!

Even Jim only had a short stay at QPR before he (allegedly) nutted someone.

Talk about spin

Joe Royle - behind the scenes job at Everton
Roy Keane - assistant manager of ROI
Paul Jewell - fair enough
Mick Mcarthy - will be back, clearly waiting for the right job.
Paul Hurst - will be back at league one level

Truly impaired.

Hurst and McCarthy will both be a manager somewhere this time next year

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.
