Why is Brexit still happening? 11:08 - Jul 13 with 82669 viewstcblue

Almost everyone involved has said it will be a catastrophe, and the only person still thinking it's a good idea is failed politician radio host Nigel Farage. Even Boris and POB got the jobs they were perhaps angling for out of it so won't be pro anymore.

I just don't get it. Yes, there was an election with a result - but was that really done properly with an informed electorate?

I don't really give a toss if this is dismissed as snowflaking. It is obvious that Brexit will make this country significantly worse off, and for some reason we still have our foot on the gas despite being ten feet away from the cliff edge.

If there were true principles and strong leaders in our politics (whichever colour) nowadays, we would be having conversations about not respecting the will of the 52% right now.

Everyone in politics wants to pull the parachute. I'm sure of it.

🤩 now that’s a rant!

How can it be a crime if the majority want it to happen?

Because the majority didn't have a Scooby Doo what they were voting for?

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

It is about a political revolution. Telegraph - as Tory as it gets - is reporting this morning that Boris, asked by an ambassador about concerns 're business (e.g. Airbus, BMW etc) responded "F©©© Business".

Ouch.

It's sort of still happening and I still don't understand why.

I'm certain 52% of the country didn't vote for two years of feckless capitulation and a very real chance of a no deal exit.

This is just nonsense. I wonder how much it has already cost.

It is currently costing around £350m a week per the FT, based on the actual reduction in experienced economic activity. That figure is already a couple of months out of date.

If Airbus quit, it would add roughly another £200m a week! ( loss of 16000 direct jobs and 100,000 supply chain jobs plus another 55,000 other jobs - rule of thumb is 1-to-2 - throughout those communities, in services such as accounting and legal, retail, office services, car sales, bars, shops etc).

What is still unknown, is what the people voting against, are going to get.

It's a fair point. For Europe the soft left go all gooey, and global corporatist! Cognitive dissonance is order of the day though! The Emperor has no clothes !

Rather straying from the point to have a dig at me and Corbyn. Some things never change.

Your first article is 3 years old. I didn't bother reading anything else.

It's not a dig at Corbyn.

If you were bright enough to undersatnd, as Banksy did above, itdemonstrates your hypocrisy at complaining about people voting for Bexit because you think it will hit the economy, destroy jobs and force business out of the country whilst voting for policies that will..................well you get the meaning don't you?

Hello mate. I trust you are well?

We are heading for the softest of soft Brexit's that will no doubt include being a member of the single market and a customs union. There will be a fudge deal on freedom of movement with the odd concession to make it look like we have been tough on immigration.

It's worse than being in the EU because we will have all the red tape and the inability to strike our own trade deals whilst having no say in any of the decision maing. We would be better off still being a member. Which is propbably the whole point.

Unfortunately we have a remainer as Prime Minister and she was never going to deliver brexit.

We will no doubt rejoin the EU in the next ten years.

All good thanks and I think we agree about the non merits of the fudge. The ten years prediction is Interesting - if you're right, I hope the euro has died by then!

Firstly, it's whatabouterry.

Secondly, we don't know that Corbyn being PM would've destroyed jobs because it didn't happen.

Thirdly, we DO know Brexit is destroying jobs, because it's happening.

Fourthly, in this thread, and what you were replying to, I was actually calling Boris moronic for his "F*** business" response, and that is all.

But these are only what my tiny brain can understand unfortunately.

By calling a vote on anythign the government of the day has a responsibility to advise the electorate what the various issues are. I am not convinced that everyone understood either complexity nor the risks associated with taking the UK away from it's biggest market AND maybe more importantly it main suppliers.

Didn't you know everythign is Corbyn's fault? If England don't win the world cup that will be Corbyn's fault etc. etc.

Not really sure why we have a government when Corbyn controls everything.

Shows how bad the UK media is & how gullible some of the public really are.
