It's fair to say the players need some time but you have to look at what Cook is doing to build this team. He's chopping and changing the front players. He doesn't seem to realise that he's playing 442 not 4231 and perhaps most baffling is he's played Chaplin, Barry and Pigott as second strikers before picking a proper ACM in Fraser.
A midfield three of Evans, Harper and Fraser is clearly key to this team yet Cook has given them no time to gel.
Yes time to gel but Cook is prolonging that process with straight up poor decisions.
I think 'worth a punt' is an understatement! We'd be very very lucky to get him.
I suspect he's long been top of our CB list and we're just hoping he doesn't get a good championship offer. Brum have made a move though and we need to move quickly now so it seems increasingly unlikely. Presumably Mariapppa is next on the list.
Yes, I'm sure we'll have 4 players to cover the 2 CM roles. I personally think Cook is the ideal manager for Nolan so expect him to do ok. So one more is definitely needed and I wouldn't be surprised if we look to an experienced, durable campaigner who can come into the team at short notice and deliver 7 out of 10 performances. If you look through the free agents of that type/calibre one name stands out - Leadbitter! Probably wouldn't come though and there's plenty of other old-timers who could make up the 4th CM spot. No rush.
On an independent website that explains SCMP it states:
'However the Football League use a broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity.'
And
'In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions'
In my view, Jackson and Norwood came up against a good defence yesterday. Maybe even championship quality in the boy Anderson. It was a reminder that they are both very much league 1 level and how important Keane could be against the best defences.
That said, PL had to change to 3 in midfield yesterday. Found it a little bizarre he stuck with 442 when their deep number 8 was pulling all the strings.
Skuse for Huws: I agree Huws is class but right now he has to wait for his chance. Neither Skuse or Downes deserve to be dropped.
Georgiou for Judge: He is a proper left winger. Judge is a makeshift winger. Also sounds like we've been very lucky to get Georgiou - I think he needs to play.
I'm with you on Edwards over Rowe. Edward's get goals and assists, Rowe, for all his qualities, doesn't.
He provides a real dilema. His speed of thought and passing is of international standard. However, his defensive work is of amateur standard. If his defensive work improves (and he has beefed up) then weve got a superstar on our hands. If it doesnt then I fear his career will drift.
If he is seriously contemplating a move to a prem club, I worry he is underestimating the work he has to. Because of injuries he will probably start the season for us so he should be getting his head down, working on his defending and nail his spot down.
After a couple of weeks he'll have Huws and Nolan breathing down his neck. Both have a more complete set of skills so it should be a brilliant challenge for Dozzell. If hes not motivated by the competition then that raises a whole lot of other questions about him.
Certainly think Downes will run Skuse hard this season. Depends which Skuse turns up. If its the PL version that wants the ball off the back 4 then he probably still gets the nod. Downes will get plenty of games regardless though.
