Town have confirmed that former Manchester United man Frederic Veseli has signed a two-year deal with an option for a further season following his trial. Yesterday, TWTD revealed that 20-year-old was set to undergo a medical and was closing in on a move to the Blues having been released by the Premier League champions at the end of last season.
Veseli, who plays at right-back, centre-half and in midfield, joined up with the Town squad at their training camp in Ireland where he impressed manager Mick McCarthy.
After briefly being sidelined by a hamstring injury, he was back with the squad again at the weekend and played for 45 minutes at right-back in Tuesday’s friendly at Gillingham.
McCarthy told the club site that Veseli turned down other clubs to sign for the Blues: “Freddy has done very well in his time here. He had other options but we are delighted he has agreed to join us.”
A Swiss international at U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels, Veseli joined the Red Devils from rivals Manchester City in January 2012.
He was previously a youth player with hometown club FC Renens and FC Lausanne-Sport. He is yet to make a senior appearance for any of his clubs.

I know this might sound silly but the fact MM already calls him Freddy to me shows how soon he can develop a relationship with players. It has to persuade a player when they're made to feel so wanted. Sounds a good acquisition and I think we provide the perfect environment for him to thrive in.
Very pleased with this announcement....this will send the message to other clubs that we mean business this season. Well done Town staff for tracking this lad down and securing his signature.
excellent signing can be a first team player and can cover various position and at 20 will only get better a good forward thinking move from mcarthy.
we have signed some really good players this summer and spent next to nothing so well done to all involved at ITFC for the change in direction regarding player recruitment
Now this is something to get excited about, unlike that rumour re Stewart this morning. Well done MM & Co and very welcome Freddy, may your stay be long, happy and fruitful.
Nice to see we are signing good young talent, he must be half decent for both Manchester clubs to have shown an interest. Good set of guns on him as well! Welcome to ITFC, Freddy.
