Could Chambers or Collins have picked up a knock? 20:17 - Jan 31 with 1430 viewspointofblue

Could explain why we've blocked Pennington from leaving after rumours have been doing the rounds all day. It feels un-Lambert like to have six loanees on the books with only five able to make the matchday squad though Knudsen could easily replace Elder if his head's in the right place.

Chambers is out injured for a bit.

Pennington and Collins to play CB.

That’s why Bree is in.

Missed that thread - have to assume that’s a possibility. In a way it’s a shame Lambert has decided to bring in another loaner rather than rely on Emmanuel to do a job.

Think Collins will help Pennington hugely as a centre back pairing. It then allows an anorthodox right back to play.

Assuming this is the case one of the loanees has to be left out.

Probably Elder with either Kenlock or Knudsen playing.

Other possibility would be playing Downes/Bishop in place of Chalobah.

If Chambers is out I predict a clean sheet Saturday.

Think it’ll be Elder. To be fair to Chalobah he’s been one of our better players over recent weeks.

One question....

If we had an injury to a defender, why would we even entertain Pennington leaving?

The way I read it is , for us to have considered it ... It's either a negotiating stance for more cash... Or we maybe had another incoming player that has fallen through so we have then blocked the Pennington out move.
If that incoming player was a permanent transfer it would have solved the 5 loans in the squad problem, that Lambert has been vocal about disliking too.
