My wife teaches A-Level Geography she was up earlier than me today to check the results they were "meh" not as many A's as they would have liked but not as many fails as they feared ( was the first time they have teached the new syllabus so it was a learning curve for everyone! )

A level results thread on 09:25 - Aug 16 with 2356 views | tractordownsouth | Got ABC. I got into the uni course I want, but I'm p1ssed off because I put so so much work in. My politics re-sit was where I screwed up. The syllabus was written in 2013, and the question was "is the current Labour Party more influenced by socialism or new labour". I wrote about Ed Miliband's party as he was leader at the time of the syllabus and it would have been impossible to write a balanced argument for Jezza. It's not just that question but that particular one was 25 of the 80 marks on that first paper so if that question was disqualified I'm angry - I was 17 marks off a B. I have a feeling it may have been disqualified as I can out of that paper thinking it had gone brilliantly yet I only ended up with under 50% [Post edited 16 Aug 2018 9:44]

That sucks mate, can you appeal? Good grades overall though and they've got you on to your uni course and that's the main thing. In 3 or 4 years neither you nor anyone else will really be worried about your A level results, they are a means to an end (which is not meaning to trivialize them as they feel hugely important after 2 years of study).

The main message from that is, you go in to the course you wanted, all that sacrifice and worry is done with. Stepping stone achieved. You'll hardly care after 3 years of uni mate. Well done.

The most important thing is you got the uni place you wanted. Once you have a degree (or even if you don't get one, once you've been in work a while), nobody will care about your exact A Level grades.

You have +1 for getting onto the course you wanted, as Mullet says that's all that counts now. It's not worth worrying unduly about the rest of it now, go and have some beers with your mates.

Coming from somebody whos reults spelt DODO that seems pretty good.Seems you over thought that one......maybe appeal with an explanation. If you have got where you want to go though it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things! Well done.

A level results thread on 09:52 - Aug 16 with 2270 views | GlasgowBlue | Good luck mate. Our results came through last week and they had the option to have them texted first thing in the morning. We don't have A Levels up here. They are called Highers. Thankfully GB Jnr got the 4 A grades that he needed to study Politics & History at Glasgow Uni

Let's hope GB Jnr becomes radicalised away from home ;) Well done to all collecting their results today. As others have said, it's not the end of the world if you didn't get what you wanted. Go out, have a few beers and enjoy the summer before uni starts... try to give your liver a bit of peace in between!

Congratulations on getting what you needed. I got CCD..... back in 2010. I'd naively stopped trying halfway through 6th Form as I believed I would never want to go to university based on my career plans at that time. Now in 2018 I've recently got the equivalent of AAA on an Access Diploma and I'm studying physiotherapy in October.

I needed 3 Bs for my course at uni and missed out but my module choices in maths meant I had done an extra AS Level, so ended up comfortably there with UCAS points as needed BBBb and got ABDaa. As long as you get your course nothing else matters - I wouldn't worry about it for a second. Just make sure you don't balls that up, like I did

A level results thread on 12:11 - Aug 16 with 2016 views | tractordownsouth | Thanks everyone for the kind responses. I'm glad I got onto the course I want although that's not really in my head because of how long I have to wait and how i was expecting to do better after I put so much work in. It goes back to my mental health thread the other day - I've been feeling good since I posted that but I'm feeling bad because in my head this was my big opportunity to finally achieve something and I haven't done as well as I should have. I don't mean to sound like a drama queen - I know they're still good grades and I'm not knocking anyone who got them but it's more of a personal thing really.

It's a brilliant attitude to have and a well-learned lesson in complacency. Little story. When our class was doing portfolio coursework the teacher had marked out my mate's as being an A very early on so he did nothing for much of the year. The rest of us were constantly criticised. Surprise, surprise- he ended up with a C for his efforts while we all got As. Oftentimes the people who praise you (yourself included) will do you the most harm. Listen to criticism, take it on board and improve. Just don't let it get to you too much. It's very healthy in small doses and will serve you well throughout life. Well done, mate! :)
