Is he not off on his coaching course? I can't imagine that Hurst has seen anything of Hyam in the DVD's that's made him desperate to try and reverse Evans decision. He could have spoken with him on the phone at any point. Why would he need to meet him and how would Hyam's personality alter a footballing decision? Utter rubbish.

Nope.
It's not remotely possible that Hyam could get on a train to London (or wherever the course is) and meet Hurst for a coffee / bite to eat when the course finishes for the day.

Whether we need Hyam or not is another matter.

I wouldn't be fussed if he stayed released. He's on the fast track to offering the same service quality as Sears.

Thanks Luke, good luck with your new club.

In fairness to Sears, if we play him in position and get his confidence up (as in Kug's mini-tenure), I'm more than happy to have him in the squad.

Hurst said the squad was unbalanced, presumably pointing to the amount of centre mids in the squad compared to other positions. So why would he want to resign a centre mid who is worse than every single one of the others we have?

Hurst loves 4-1-4-1?

That would mean Freddie on the wing unless he becomes first choice striker?

That's a fair point..... Hard to fit the existing strikers we have in to that formation, never mind any new ones.

Bases on 4141, I would say Waghorn has to be the favourite for the 1 up-front.

I haven't but wouldn't surprise me if he made overtures to keep him on.

When not injured, Hyam is our fittest player, can run and run all day and an excellent presser of the ball. That is a style Hurst wants to play with and realisitically no-one has pressed better than Hyam has for us in Mick's tenure

When he's fit Hyam is our fittest player? That's because he's never fit. But when he is fit, he's just come back from another long lay off, so it's no wonder he's got plenty in the tank to run with!

Sears offers a different option up front. Waghorn was fit, available and playing under Klug.

I still think MM was happy with the role Sears played in the position he played. I prefer how Klug used him, though.

If Hurst can get the wingers he clearly desires (temper that with MM tried too), it would be great.

That would be a very good shout if he has good faith in his new fitness coach.

I think the new fitness coach might be key to the success or failure of our season.

Can actually see it, fairly experienced in the championship, very much a home grown player, no matter on performances fans have always wished him well so no broken relationship there. Hurst prefers the one holding midfielder and at shrewbury town predominately Godfrey or Ogogo. The think about them two is they fit, strapping, strong, physical, aggressive sitters. Hyam certainly fits that mould far better than skuse.

Whether Hyam is genuinely good enough I don't know, but I can see it if true. I think Hyam has to do what he does best in front of the back four, but then has to play his passing at a simple level. He's not Xavi and that pulls my hair out when I tries too much, keep it simple, keep to his hassling and breaking up and I could see him being fairly decent.

Murphy wasn't a great presser, he occupied defenders but didn't harry as well as Hyam

Hunt a fair point
