Anyone else watching Ireland v Switzerland? 20:29 - Sep 5 with 2292 views | SE1blue | It could be Ipswich v Brighton circa 2016. Ireland very resilient in defence, lobbing balls up to an isolated McGoldrick. MM arms folded. Switzerland trying to find a way to unpick Ireland with their better quality players.

Anyone else watching Ireland v Switzerland? on 21:54 - Sep 5 with 2049 views | Moriarty | Switzerland have much better players. That’s the context. They rank 11. Ireland showed great togetherness and energy to equalize. Well done Goldie on your first international goal. Others would have folded having gone one down to the better team and lost by 2 or 3. The work rate and resilience shown by Ireland tonight, against better players, is a credit to all involved, especially the manager.

The Swiss goal proved how if they get it right then the better players can just pass it around you, very good goal that

Not disputing Switzerland have better players, or questioning ‘togetherness’, but Ireland were really poor in possession.

All factally correct, but they have played Gibraltar in 2 of their 5 games. A draw away to Denmark was decent but still think the tables are a bit skewed at the moment. Ireland’s goal difference might be their downfall!

I think we’d be realistic and acknowledge that we have 3 tough encounters left, away to Switzerland and Georgia and home to Denmark. But we’ve got a chance. We know our limitations. Goldie is thriving for us.

Anyone else watching Ireland v Switzerland? on 23:55 - Sep 5 with 1824 views | Eireannach_gorm | I watched it and thought Mick did a brilliant job. An Irish team whose Premiership players can't get a game and the four forwards had not scored a goal for the international side managed to draw with a very good Swiss side. Mick McCarthy was brought in to do a job with a limited squad ( like at Ipswich ) and unlike at Ipswich he has a fixed contract. He will be replaced by Stephan Kenny at the end of this competition. Mick is very good at this type of task. Paul Lambert discovered that if you don't have the players, the Ticka Tacka football does not work so good. Mick changed the formation three times during the game with a good outcome each time. Started with five at the back and when we were getting over-run in midfield changed to 4-5-1. This worked for most of the game but when the Swiss goal went in he put two up front. Its not rocket science but it shows he knows how to maximise a very limited team. Pragmatic Mick said he would take a draw and he achieved it with a really poor Irish side. For all the brilliance and skill of the Swiss, they only came away with a draw. Well done Mick ( and Digsy ).

Definitely got a chance. All 3 games left are difficult. Georgia don’t seem great but it isn’t a great place to go. I hope they do it.
Anyone else watching Ireland v Switzerland? on 09:38 - Sep 6 with 1610 views | Wickets | If ever a game epitomised Mick this was it .I am not knocking him because he said he would be happy with a point and that is what he got . But it was rather a dull uninteresting affair until late on ,the Swiss although the better team looked below par, Mick's team did what Micks teams do work hard getting behind the ball and for the greater part stopped the Swiss playing if they had not scored ,great well worked goal, the game would have finished goalless ,a point and job done as far as Mick would have been concerned ,no entertainment no excitment but a point. Once that goal went in Mick was forced into a change of tactics and we had a good last ten minutes with a really good header from Dids , a much harder chance than the one he missed against Norwich a few years ago !, I was left wondering if Mick had gone on the attack after an hour and before the Swiss scored would the Irish have got all 3 points? . We will never know but i know which game i would rather watch .
