Lambert discussion with match official 09:24 - Jul 29 with 1538 views | Jeff_winger | After the game Lambert went into the Referees changing room to ask him to omit the headbutt from the match report. He said Flynn is a young lad and he needs him next week. The officials all disagreed with Lambert and felt he should be reported and deserves a 1 game ban. Not the greatest in the know story ever , but just what I was told from someone who was in the room at the time.

Lambert discussion with match official on 09:54 - Jul 29 with 1340 views | WarkTheWarkITFC | So you're claiming that either the referee, one of the two assistants or the fourth official told you this? Since when have officials decided the length of a ban the player deserves? Lol. At best, they'd have included it in their report and left it for the FA. As others have said, people have been given red cards in the Community Shield and played the next week. Not sure Cambridge v Ipswich is going to merit special treatment. There are much worse brawls ever pre-season, some including mass punch ups. Don't recall any of those getting banned. Good try. 1/10.

What's to say in a match he wouldn't react like that, a) because he'd appreciate that it was a challenge made in a competitive match and b) he would be aware that there would be repercussions if he was sent off. In a meaningless 0-0 with 2 minutes to go and someone puts in what could be a career ending tackle in a mere fitness exercise, I don't blame any players that momentarily lose it and don't decide to hold back because there isn't the same punishment.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but headbutting the offending party? on 10:09 - Jul 29 with 1207 views | Dyland |

Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes both received 3 game bans following pre-season incidents a few years back. It can happen.
