Just watched firefly on the telly box again and it bought back all the old feelings of shows inexplicably ending short. (seems Joss Wheldon and TV channels have a history)
We just started watching Whitechapel again which is another ending too abruptly.

British telly makers are great at killing something appropriately. You may only get eight, ten programmes but they're all good. US tv execs will string anything out so long as it's doing ratings, see Lost as a prime example. |  |

I think Fawlty Towers was so good that overdoing it would have taken the edge off it.
It was comedy genius but the twelve episodes in two lots of six four years apart was about right.
