I have to say I find that awful. It was a hoax by a producer who pretended it was a cover by a lost 70’s soul band when instead it was recoded recently.

Now this is a great Bowie cover as it takes a little known song from the 60’s and breathes new life into it.

I see that the estate of Prince are releasing his demos of songs he gave away to other such as Manic Monday and Love... Thy Will Be Done.

And as with most Prince demos they are almost as good as a finished record production wise. Thankfully they are being released as was, rather than remixed or re-edited the way some of Michael Jackson’s demos have been polished up and put out.

Yes, can’t wait. It is a shame the estate is still going through legal wrangles, which maybe slowing things down.

But nice to think that there still maybe years of new stuff still to come.

So how on earth did this one get overlooked ??

My favourite Bowie cover, except I cannot find the version with an introduction that is much better than this one. Still average Joe Jackson is still a cut above most:

Also, I was lucky to see this guy at WOMAD a couple of years ago although the effect was ruined a bit by the audience singing along in English:

Hi UB

I understand you met with The Beard while he was in Oz.

I only found out relatively recently that I was at Bowies last ever public stage appearance. He came on at the Albert Hall at a Dave Gilmour gig to sing Comfortable Numb.

Lulu covered "The Man Who Sold The World" very well.

Go to YouTube and type 'Lulu The Man Who Sold The World' into the search box and then select the version you want to play. Once it is playing copy the address in the bar at the top of your search engine (i.e. outside YouTube) and paste into the reply or original post box of TWTD:

That's bloody awful.

I have no doubt that Prince was a superb talent but I can't stand anything he does - except for his stuff he doesn't perform on.

Hey Lucan ... Yeah, it was good to meet the Beardman. All too brief as he had family commitments but nice to say Hi over a beer.

The gig you mention is the one where Bowie sang Arnold Layne as well wasn't it? I've watched that clip a number of times. Would have been a special night I bet.

I've been lucky enough to have seen Bowie live six times.

I was lucky enough to see David live, I was in the queue at Newsteads Woodbridge Road Ipswich ages ago and noticed David was right in front of me, he bought a cream horn and a bag of scones, I said David you'll get fat if you eat all of those items in your bag, he turned to me and smiled he then said why don't you fark off.

Weren't there two Newsteads in Woodbridge Road?

Because I was having my usual chat with David in the queue as we waited for the sausage rolls to be put out and he mentioned that he had telepathically sensed at that moment that someone had been bothering his alter ego in the other Newsteads.

Oh wait a minute, that was Woodbridge Road East...

That's impressive gigging UB, I saw him in either 83 or 87 (I can't remember, I think it was 87, he was going through his daft baggy trouser moment) and I also saw him in 1990? on his farewell tour - both times at Milton Keynes.

The Gilmour concert was indeed great and we had no idea he was turning up and yes he did Arnold Layne. I was a wealthy man back then and I bought a box, bish bash have a bit of that I said to the Mrs!

I find that hard to believe, there is no way David would eat a sausage roll because he was practicing Buddhism at the time.
Thank you and good day!!!!
