I would like to think Ipswich Town makes the right decisions regarding transfers but it seems to me that Ipswich are great at selling players but not that good in securing its primary transfer targets, it just seems de ja vue from last season and the season before that etc. Oh well more loans it seems to be.

We have sold Webster and have turned down bids for Waghorn and possibly Garner and Knudsen. We only accepted the Webster deal because we felt it was right for the sake of squad building. We've signed three players for money, got in a free and a loan and look close to brining in two more permanent ones shortly, plus up to two more permanents and / or loans. Why does that make us great at selling and rubbish at buying! You do realise loan enquiries may just be in case we don't sign the players we want and that not signing them may be because clubs are asking unrealistic amounts!

Great at selling players? Waghorn is still here and Bart signed a new contract?

Our primary targets were Chalobah, Edwards, Harrison and Tilt. 3/4 so far

You can't blame Ipswich on Tilt and Jackson, both Accrington and Blackpool wanted to push just that little too far, so contingency plans were made. Also if Nolan and Nsiala come in, you cant honestly believe that was anything but a primary target(s) for hurst- utterings of those signings were being made as a link with Hurst being the potential gaffer, before we knew Ross was off to Sunderland.

Yeah? Reads good what you have written but until we sign more players and stop selling our better players then your post is just a waste of effort? Every year we sell our better players (perhaps it is a financial reality) but when will we get a pre season when we sign most of what the manager wants early and not be racing to sign players for the start of the season?

We've been in this league 17 years mate. It is a financial reality. How else will we survive? This is what clubs our size have to do. If what I have written reads good it's because it's true! Lol. Hurst didn't join us until the start of June, it was a world cup year, what do you expect! He didn't know if Bart was going, what funds he would have or who his targets should be. Would you want him to buy a £500,000 player then get £5m from Bart and then buy a £3m player in the same position? Would you want him signing players early before he's watched all the tape and met the players and seen what he needs?

When we got promoted we did exactly the same, selling Dyer felt like a dagger to the heart as a fan, but it made way for much more strengthening for the entire team as a whole. We do not have high enough attendances and mechandising sales to cover the costs of our operating outlay year in year out - so we absolutely have to generate money for transfers. We can, and to an extent do, expect Evans to fund everything from his back pocket- but when he did so for Roy Keane we got nowhere, so of course he is cautious.

Well yes, otherwise we would have sold him to Sheffield United for £5.5 million. We're holding out for our initial target. If it doesn't come he stays, if someone bids it he goes. Every club does it.

It just seems frustrating that the bargain buys are being priced out the market

ITFC have never been good at holding on to players. Ever. Reality sometimes sucks but it is what it is. Cheer up sausage.

I will do if we sign Tilt, Jackson and the Shrewsbury pair AND win 3-0 tomorrow
