The yanks don’t fook about do they.

The USA gymnast doctor who sexually assaulted them just got jailed for 175 years. Was live on sky news. He looked stunned.

European rules would never let us give that long in jail for that type of crime, winning the argument life should mean life for murder was hard enough.

Which rule prevents that?

Other than the Rule About Meaninglessly Long Prison Sentences?

What happens when somebody like him dies with 146 years still to go? Is the corpse left to rot in a cell until the 175 years have passed?

They hang the rotting corpse outside the prison walls for the remaining 146 years as a warning to other disgusting scrotes like him

Oh don’t get me wrong I’m not saying it’s lenient. Nice to see a proper sentence for a scumbag.

Over here he’d be out in 9 years on parole like that taxi driver the other day

Makes getting released on parole a whole lot more difficult.

Pretty lenient sentence for the sexual assault of 157 woman.

1.11 years per person.

Should be ten times that at least. But in reality that wasn't the sentence, he already had 60 years for child pornography charges so it's 115/157 which is 9 months per woman.

You still think it's a lot? I think it's nowhere near enough regardless of how long he may live.

I never said it wasn’t deserved

I’ve just never seen a sentence of over 150 years before that’s all

When you divide it up, you’re right in that it doesn’t seem that much

The sad thing was if it was in this Country he wouldn't even get 15.7 years. The Worboys case is a perfect example, guilty of 18 attacks on women and had a minimum term of 8 years it should have been 8 years per woman ie 144 years but that would be against his human rights

If he was finishing his sentence now it would have started in 1843. At least he would have got out of fighting in the American civil war.

I recall watching a documentary on American Prisons; one fella had a sentence of 500 years for various violent offences.

If I were ever to get into a right pickle I would rather face my punishment anywhere on earth than the USA.

On a side note I watched a documentary fairly recently which showed an American ex-prison warden visiting prisons in Scandinavia. In a nutshell he couldn’t believe just how luxurious and open prisons were there in comparison to American prisons. However rates of reoffending in America is very high whilst in Nordic countries it’s very low.

Just proves that lengthy prison sentences coupled with harsh conditions may well not work.
