John Louis RIP 21:16 - Apr 5 with 2166 viewsPhilTWTD

As big a hero to many of us as the Town players back in the day.

Oh no.

That is sad.

I was always a Mildenhall Fen Tigers fan and mostly in the league below.
However, always enjoyed the visit of the Witches during 3 or 4 team tornaments. John was a great rider.
Sad news for all speedway fans.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Never realised until after he'd retired how late he'd started speedway - in his 30s before he became a regular.

Poll: Who do you blame for our failure to progress?

I was allowed to go to Witches on my own/ with mates when I was about 13/14 during the mid 70s. Two buses and a hike there and back. Right up against the back straight fence. Smell of frying onions, shale, exhaust fumes, crackling pop music over the tannoy and Tiger Louis seemingly invincible. Great memories - thanks Tiger.

That's a real shame because for me, whenever I think of the Witches, I think of John Louis.

Very sad, not really a speedway fan and only been to Foxhall once but during those Robson years everyone knew of John "Tiger" Louis and Billy Sanders.... can remember them showing off Pots round Portman Rd on occasion.. another icon from my youth sadly now gone!

The word Legend is used far to brazenly today. But this man was a Ipswich Witches Legend. RIP in the days Ipswich ruled football and speedway truly remarkable.

So SO sad to have just seen this, he lived very close to me in Bramford, great memories with Chris as a kid hanging around there with John tinkering with his bikes..

My thoughts go out to Chris and Jo..

RIP...a true Ipswich legend..

Poor Billy Sanders, such a good rider such a sad end. Loved him as a kid. Him and Ted Howgego. John Louis was the main man though.
