Sad news. He was a terrific defender and part of fantastic German side of the 80s and early 90s. If I remember rightly he was a left back by trade, but took the penalty in the World Cup Final against Argentina in 1990 with his right foot.

Yes RIP, but I always remember the jammy goal he scored against England at Italia 90 in the semi finals. His shot following their free kick hit the wall, and looped up over Shilton into the net. England went on to lose on penalties which was the lowest moment for me as an England fan to date.
