I reckon in January we'll bring in a top-top striker on loan (with a view to signing permanently if we make the Prem).

I like Messi but can't see him in the Hirst role.

Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...

And height-wise, he's no Jay Tabb, is he?

I'd reluctantly take Batistuta if Messi wasn't available

Where from though ? Would have thought most top top strikers are gainfully employed elsewhere and not loan available. To buy would cost us a huge fee.

The only Muff in Town.

I still like Aaron Collins at Bristol Rovers. Not prolific, but a good link up type of striker. Think he would flourish in our system and with a better quality of service. Sure KM knows better than me though.

We've moved beyond Collins now.

I think it's needed. Hirst works himself so hard he gets very tried, so we need someone to finish the last 20 minutes of the game in that same role plus extra time to do that same role. Scarlett just lacks the expirience and game time at this level, and while Ladapo will never let us down having another option will help.

I suppose it depends on how Scarlett develops. And many believe we need an upgrade on Freddie. A latter day Marcus Stewart signing to get us over the line, perhaps?
Jan window is only just over 2 months away so would expect Ashton and his crew to fire up the dashboard pretty soon... start churning out some names.

I don't think we have. Not sure we need an out and out striker, but someone who can link with what we already have. Collins is a very intelligent player who would link so well with Chaplin and Broadhead. Think he would score 15+ between January and end of season. I rate him, but I know that KM knows far more than me.

Colby Bishop having another good season 8 in 12 so far.

Real shame Pompey were asking for silly money in the summer.

I'd also consider utilising Broadhead as an out-and-out striker and freeing up another inside forward position for a quality new signing. I know how much McKenna enjoys a versatile forward player!

I'm not sure he would. He hasn't really been prolific anywhere minus the first half of last season.

Good player, not good enough if you are a top two championship team and want to sign better than what you have.

He's certainly not getting any game time where he is. Could actually be a decent shout. He was very lively on loan to Swansea a few years ago, but I'm not sure where he's at now (other than sat on Seff utd's bench).

I like the idea of another "wrecking ball" type forward, in the Hirst mold...
We've got players like Broadhead, Chaplin, Burns, Hutchinson, Taylor, Mass, Harness, Leif who can cause problems in and around the edge of the box..
Hirst is the foil. But he can't do it on his own all season. Even with Freddy back soon. A like for like player, to keep it fresh up top , would be a decent addition, imo.
Its one thing trying to identify what/who we might need. Finding them, with the right attitude and at the right price/wages, is the hard part.
