With lots of Championship clubs looking for strikers and some of them having money to spend more easily through player sales it was always going to be tough for us to get our top picks.

We need that first wow signing in imo as a sign to other targets of what our ambitions are.

Yes, I was concerned when the £4m fee was being bandied about so for Cov to pay double that is a bit mad tbh, good luck to them though.
I know it’s said every season but the market really does seem to have gone mental. Any player under 25 who’s had a half decent season in a top league is now apparently worth £100m+ and that inflation is filtering down. | | | |

Meh for me, as has been posted previously young England strikers sell for top money. We don't need to pay over the odds for anyone.
Once the EPL teams return to pre season fixtures is when things get interesting. Along with continental teams.

We're no longer in League 1. As stated above there will be plenty of options on Ashton and Co's dashboard.
Paying 6-8m for a player that is capable of stepping up is not a sustainable way to run a club if that means you cannot strengthen the squad elsewhere.
And I may add, splashing cash on players can disrupt the overall squad as we learned previously in the EPL.
