The bassline one this is probably my favourite and I've no idea why.

Bad news, never the biggest fan but was lucky enough to see them at Essex uni on their first album tour and then at the Ipswich Gaumount on the “meat is murder” tour without realising that was my “I saw Jimmy Hendrix” moment. Bass had a great sound and they were so different, blew everyone away when they first found fame. RIP

Having a voice, a guitar line and a bass line all doing totally different melodies shouldn't work, but it's the opposite on that song, it works perfectly.

This one will get a few plays today

You can hear Johnny Marr’s Chic influence on that track.

Ach, that's sad. The Smiths meant a lot to me as a teenager, and some of that music still seems beautiful, despite you-know-who.

It's this one for me:

At the Drive-In did a surprisingly faithful cover of that. Some very fine lyrics

Gutted. An absolute one off. Got me into playing bass as a teenager. Missed seeing them at Ipswich Gaumont as was a bit too young. RIP

RIP Andy, he had been very ill for many months. I thought Marr's and Morrissey's tributes were very touching.

Andy will be remembered for some amazing bass lines and as posted earlier on this thread, influencing many many others.

Edit: fixing links.
