Cambridge away poor ticketing 10:22 - Jan 9 with 6817 viewsChocorange

This has been handled really badly.

It was obvious this game would sell out as the closest away game and there would be huge demand.

It seems we now have more gold ticket holders than away allocations.

The last few times we have played Norwich , which had a bigger allocation than Cambridge have given, the tickets were sold by invitation letter to those and who had been to the most away games.

Why not this time ?

This was an absolute mess ,

It is tricky, I have missed out now on Pompey, Oxford and now Cambridge, it is really starting to get on my wick.

I wonder if there will become a time when they move to 'dynamic' pricing. Where the people that pay the most get the tickets.

The technology is certainly here for it.

That’s an awful idea, bet I can guess which way you vote at elections.

Yes, and for Wimbledon at Kingstonian the other year. If GC exceed tickets by that much then there needs to be some further priority introduced.

How does that work. ? If you bid for a ticket, you have to wait for a certain date when the auction is closed?

That would prejudice the gold and silver holders wouldn’t it?

I suspect number of Gold Card holders is higher than away capacity at majority of League One grounds.

Gold card priority was fine in years gone by and at the start of the league 1 campaigns, but we clearly have 5000-10000?? people who now hold these so it's always going to be a problem for a local game like this. 90% of the time it's fine, but yes, old Norwich style priority would have been fairer.

It wont be anywhere near this figure. Total GC numbers is circa 1500-2000.

Oxford gave us 1,500 tickets and that went to ST sale.

A good problem for the club to have but abject misery for those who have held GC and/or travelled away very regularly for a long time (I am not including myself).

Any good guesses please on whether Bristol Rovers away will get to silver?

I have 2 GC and I ideally need 3 seats together. But I don't want to risk losing the 2 seats if there is no chance.

How many did they offer?

I suspect this was due to demand, which may have had something to do with the fact Cambridge is closer to Ipswich and much easier to get to than Oxford.

It's factually way more than 1500 and I'd suggest far more than 2000 also given the number that have missed out today.

Oxford game is a different game and you're working on the basis that every gold card holder tried to get a ticket for that one which they didn't.

It won't be a problem when we get promoted. Most grounds in League One just don't have anywhere near the away capacity to host us.

Surely if you’re willing to overpay for a ticket, you just buy in hospitality?

I don't have time to look now, but i doubt the away allocation sells out for the majority of matches across the whole of L1. From a quick glance, most teams only bring a few hundred (Derby and Posh being exceptions, with Fleetwood at the other end of the scale).

I agree. I managed to get some! But I was lucky.

It needs to be a points based system. 8 away games 4,3,2 etc etc!

You really need a gold card, if you haven’t got one! I managed to get a ticket for every game I want, but it’s getting harder! Needs to be a points priority.

And a horrendous suggestion.

I was well aware I wasn't going to get a ticket this year, with the increased number of fans wanting to go, and I didn't even bother buying a silver membership this year. It is frustrating when you live in Cambridge though!
