I mean the tech. The premise is surveillance and information collection and it's all Nokia bricks and pagers. I do think that is half its charm watching it now.

For years it has been 'Sopranos' as the best for me just edging in front of 'The Wire.'
'Succession' has just pushed in there though. Can't decide where but it's the best series I've seen for years.

Well yes, a show made in the early 2000s will no doubt look of its time. But the show has so many more layers than surveillance it’s hard to see how a brick phone could derail your enjoyment of it. I mean, the cars and suits in the Sopranos look pretty dated too! | |

Tried to watch Spiral after all the rave reviews, but only managed one episode, it felt horribly, horribly dated, like watching dynasty or something. Worth persevering with then?

Neither, you’re way too late to the party on both. Fast forward to current times and watch any of Dopesick, The Dropout, Dr. Death, Dahmer - Monster or Snowfall. Finished watching The Sopranos yesterday. Didn't realise it had taken me 6 months!
What a great series. I didn't realise that the ending was the ending until earlier today when I sat down to watch Series 7 Episode 1 and to find out what happened in the diner  .
