Here's what I don't understand. 22:10 - Aug 17 with 2437 viewsOriginalMarkyP

And i would love someone to enlighten me.

Last season Cook managed a team of players that weren't 'his' for 17 games.

This season Cook has managed a completely different team of players that are 'his' for 4 games.

They both seem to play in a very similar way to each other to similar effect.

Now, the bad habits of last season's players can't possibly be inherited by this season's players because they weren't there last season.

So ask yourself, why is this happening?

You need to give this squad a minimum of 10 league games. If it's the same after ten league games then you'll have a great point.

Well on the facts as presented by you, the common denominator is Cook. But clearly he needs time to improve matters. For me, he has to sort of the defence. My view is that he has made the defence worse. If you got goals awarded to you for fannying the ball around nicely, then that wouldn't matter. But you don't.

We can't go a quarter of the season without a win and have 3 points after 10 games.

We need to be translating some promising performances into some results by September.

We can't panic after 3 league games either. Clearly it's been poor. No one is arguing.

No win in 4 matches is very poor whatever way you dress it up.

3 defeats on the trot.

The whole 'gelling' excuse only goes so far.

We need a win, and we need it quick!!

We definately need some kind of solid foundation to build a house, and points wise we look like we're building on sand. If we have no wins by September, then the gloves are completely off.

Which is end of September, Doncaster at home. So 5 1/2 weeks left before the fans turn. The owners clearly want more success than we have had. Can’t blame last season's owner or players for this latest debacle, can’t blame the new owners, so it’s down to the Management “team”.

A solid foundation like, say, a unit that doesn't allow cheap throw ins and free kicks to a team that literally specialises on set pieces and a management team that manages game situations.

We had that solid foundation last year, and Cook took a Stanley knife to it.

Been saying that PC is too wedded to his system. He doesn't have the tactical knowledge or the game management ability to change tact when needed.

We keep hearing this mantra about "gel" (I put that on my hair by the way) and "you cannot expect a whole new team to be able to play together straight away".

My question is, what bat$hit crazy person thought it was a good idea to replace a whole team straight away in one go? Perhaps he should have done it a few at a time.

Paul Hurst tried that a couple of years back and look how that ended.

That was the solid foundation beaten out of sight by relegated Swindon at home and lost week in week out during the winter, before hidings at Gillingham Northampton and Wimbledon.

We’ve been rubbish for years. Sadly, nothing much seems to have changed bar the faces in the shirts. But it’s too soon. They’re his players, it’s mid August and it’s up to him/them.

Might want to scroll up to see my comment that followed that one. I wasn't saying last year's was solid either, I was mainly referring to how poor our game management was tonight. And frankly, it was terrible. Did not head the warnings at all.

Under Cook's management.

Scarily we never had a run like this (one point out of twelve) last season under Lambert. Admittedly the year before we did but not in 20/21, with a supposedly weaker squad who apparently didn't give a damn.

(This is not a post saying we shouldn't have sacked Lambert!)

17 games last season and some of the worst football from a Town side I've ever seen.

4 games this season, no win. Something has to change and quickly.

Positives are we've had opportunities to win games or take the lead at crucial times. However, we're not ruthless or aggressive enough.

Actually it’s one point in nine and we had several of those last year. Not that it makes it sound any better. It’s not good enough and very disappointing so far.

How come Sunderland signed 11 players this season and they haven't needed half a season to "gel"?

Going forward we’re much improved and look a real threat; at the back, we’re poor - simple as that. I’m praying that Walton, Edmunson and hopefully Morsy add that leadership required to resolve simple issues. Burgess is a leader but after that, we have a lot of similar characters with Norwood out and it needs mixing up.
