Petta and Reuser 18:32 - Jul 8 with 1212 viewsstopmoaning

Never realised this, but someone posted a team sheet on LinkedIn of a young Dutch team they played against with future stats like Kluivert and Seedorf, but in the starting lineup was also one “Bob Petta” and Martijn Reuser! Pretty sure Petta left town the year before Reuser joined?

So they both played together, just obviously not at Town.

Petta left the end of the 98/99 season - IIRC we made a loan for Reuser deep into the following season.

Never really thought of them having played together for Holland kids teams.

Neither of them quite had the career that their talent could suggest. Very respectable, but neither of them managed more than a couple of successful seasons together at any one club. Nevertheless, that Dutch upbringing gave them a certain something which, whenever it came good was very, very good.

I think Rueser would have been world-class, except for the fact that he was plagued with injuries. However, had he not sustained a catastrophic knee injury at AJAX in his youth - he may very well have never have graced the town.

If it wasn’t for his injuries he would never have joined us on loan as a second tier club.
