Look out, Mike Ashley’s about 14:38 - May 24 with 5742 viewshochiblue

Today’s Sunday Mirror:
“Mike Ashley has had initial talks about taking over an EFL club“ (after NUFC sale closes).

“And he is already looking at purchasing a club, which, in the past has won the league and the FA Cup but has since slipped a fair way down the football ladder.“

“But he still has the energy and drive to rescue an underachieving club whose owner wants out.“

Umm, any ideas who that could be?

Just so long as he puts Lambert on a zero-hour contract!

This sounds like us.

It would be nice if a fans consortium could get together to buy the club as neither Evans or Ashley are for me.

Clearly wouldn’t raise sufficient capital and funds to finance the club on an ongoing basis. Although if football finances do change, it would obviously become a more realistic scenario. That said, a consortium is always pretty challenging - who makes decisions, what happens when key people disagree, etc.

ITFC would (temporarily) lose a fan in me if that happened. Not sure how you'd square supporting a team owned by a bloke with such questionable morals.

That and Portman Road would become the new Sports Direct Stadium.

Portly Road surely?

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

They have a long long time ago, which given the vagueness of the quote could still qualify them.

I stand corrected - I should have looked it up, 6 times, the last was in 1936,

I've been saying for ages Ashley is going to buy Town, hope he does as it will keep all the fans happy who keep calling for Evan's to sell to anyone, hopefully it will bring the fans together

Does the EFL include the Championship (I think it does doesn't it?)?

If so can we add Blackburn, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby to the list or would none of those count as slipping some way down the footballing ladder?

I reckon Blackburn. Seems the kind of club he would go to.

Seems likely it would be us.

I'm no fan of Mike Ashley but if Evans were to sell I'd rather it be to a known quantity, to someone who has paid the wages every month etc.

Most people looking at clubs at this level are fly by night chancers, that's why in many ways we are lucky to have Evans
