John Cauldwell's warning to JM 08:08 - Dec 9 with 2744 viewshampstead_blue

Very clear.

He stated;
He has seen the manifesto and simply does not believe it.
He wouldn't start his business under this current Labour team.
He is thinking of leaving the country.
Many, many others in his wealth bracket are seriously thinking and probably will, leave.
He finds the rhetoric toward billionaires from Labour to be just wrong

JM, you may notice, starts to laugh when he's in a hole. He spent a lot of time laughing.

There we have it.

A significant % (13% I think)of JM's income tax revenue is planning on coming from the ultra rich. We've had clear warnings from one of them that they are seriously planning on leaving.

What then?

What can fill that hole?

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Yep. Multiple threads a day all designed to discredit Labour, most of them inaccurate. At this point it's hard to think that Hampstead isn't some sort of troll/bot. Yesterday he claimed Corbyn wants to exterminate the Jews.

Very funny.
It wasn't me who said that JC wanted to exterminate the Jewish people, it his team and supporters who have been saying it.

Please do not attribute such views with myself.

Of course he would start a business, if he is an entrepreneur then he will start it - if you have a great idea and think it will make you money you can't sit there and wait 5 years for a new Govt

I think this demonstrates what is known as confirmation bias, or gullibility of Hammy.

Someone working as a foreman, has some entrepreneurial ideas, and thinks, nah, I’ll wait for a different government first.

Hammy believes this to be a credible scenario.

He actually said he would start it elsewhere in a more preferable tax regime.

The point is that JM says he is pro business and entrepreneurs with one hand and then assaults them with tax hikes.
Should they get really bug, he'll take away another 10% of his business as well.

Someone made a point about a small business idea, well that will always happen. Cauldwell's business was a real growth engine and as he paid all tax that fell due, a real gem in the revenue's crown.
That is the type of business which won't be started here.

Please think about this Hampstead - it is how your party and their media supporters are filling your head.

If you are a working class family wanting to succeed why do you care so much about what you think a few billionaires are going to do?

So where do you think he'd have moved to as a small start up? Most people starting a business literally do so from their own home to begin with. They aren't going to move to Luxembourg just because there's a Labour government. He, much like you, is pushing an agenda rather than giving an honest view.

My real concern is that if you alienate that group then they will leave.
I'm not suggesting bow down, not at all. If you want to increase their tax then it needs to be done gently and over time.
I agree that tax needs to be altered. I like the Lib Dem policy of raising income tax by 1p.
Coupled with BJ's NI rise and a rise in the minimum wage that would be a good idea.

What Cauldwell is suggesting, and as he is part of that group, is that he is worried that many will leave. He even said he might leave.

If JM is relying quite heavily on their tax revenue then that could very well blow a hole in his budget.

That's the point of the OP.
Some may rant about toys and prams but they are missing the point.

I'm passing on what Cauldwell said in his interview with JM.

Could you give me one quote of someone on Corbyn's team saying they want to 'exterminate the Jewish people'?

That's an incredibly serious allegation, and not one that should be made if you can't back it up. If you can't, then it's an unbelievably tasteless smear given what has happened in recent history.

I'd also be curious to know how he can assert that he never claimed that Corbyn wants to exterminate the Jews when his post is there in black and white in the other thread.

Edit - towards the bottom of page 3 for those interested. He even edited his initial post to make the claim about eradication:

Here is some more from the interview.

'Destroying confidence'

Mr McDonnell defended his tax policy in the face of criticism from the telecoms tycoon John Caudwell, who said Labour's anti-billionaire rhetoric was "destroying confidence" and making wealthy people like him feel "almost like pariahs".

The Phones4u founder told Radio 4's Today programme that some within Labour "despised" success and its economic plans were driven by "envy", suggesting that droves of entrepreneurs would leave the country if Mr Corbyn won power.

In response, Mr McDonnell said his plans had been "exaggerated" by sections of the media.

While he hoped the rich accepted they had a social responsibility to address the UK's "grotesque" levels of inequality, it was in the end a "moral choice" whether they wanted to stay in the UK or leave, he added.

Is that the same Caudwell, that when he wasn’t in the middle of election campaign, said he would never leave the UK, thought tax dodgers should be named and shamed, and expressed concern that he f he paid less tax, others would pay more, and was very concerned about a country increasing tax he divide between rich and poor.

Maybe Hammy can confirm if it is indeed the same person?

Be funny if it is indeed the same person, and if so, does Hammy know what decade that person started out being an entrepreneur, and under which governments?

Hammy has mentioned his dislike of the 70’s. Be funny if Caudwell didn’t actually leave the UK during a 70’s style labour government, and stayed in the UK whilst building businesses.
