Not that mysterious.

Played some games at RB, was decent in patches (but by no means universally praised). Played one at LB, didn't go well. New manager (who has worked with him before) thinks he is primarily a CB and others are ahead in that position. Was on the bench for Lambert's first five matches, but not used thereafter.

It's only mysterious if you think he's a RB and would do a much better job than Spence. Which Lambert evidently doesn't.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I thi9nk this season's mysteries can be explained in two words.

Paul Hurst.

I will never understand why Hurst threw out all his principles and way of playing and changed everything for the Norwich game. Before that, although the results weren't going our way we were playing okay. I think we could see what he was trying to do and were supporting him. I just cannot work out what on earth he was thinking!

I didn't have a problem with that to be honest. We were playing okay but not creating chances. We'd just got Walters, had to play him and as a result naturally we went a bit more direct.

Without looking I can't remember what the actual changes to personnel were so you might have a point in that respect.

those saying that hurst sold all those goals, when infact Mcgoldrick didn't get offered a contract, garner wanted to go back up north, and waghorn wanted out. not too sure there was anything that hurst (for all his faults) could have done with these

Because of the opposition, the game has a greater importance than others

Why do we look like conceding from every set piece all season long yet have absolutely no threat from our own?

-lack of height /physicality?
-not enough practice on the training ground?
-poor deliveries?

Set pieces are crucial

This is one I can't believe hasn't been spoken about more.

Corners have been Sunday league standard, or worse, all season. The only commanding header of a ball is Nsiala and even he doesn't look likely to score with one.

Is Rowe actually a footballer or a fan who got swept away with things when asking for autographs and now has to keep up the ruse?

How none of our current squad can deliver a good corner.

All of them hitting the first man.

Lack of height and physicality is one reason Spence has played I think, that and being decent enough on the ball going forwards.

There was an improvement under Lambert initially, but that has tailed off again. We're still better than, say, Birmingham away where they won every single first ball from a corner.

Didz did get offered a contract.

The rest I have no knowledge of.

It was pretty obvious that Didz would not be signing any new contract offered anyway but I did not know that he was actually offered one.
It seemed to me that it was sort of mutually understood/agreed that he would be off.

Wanted two, was offered one.

I get the impression he wasn't bothered either way.

Our offensive set pieces have been in decline for some time, I really thought Lambert would address this first. Even if you don't have a huge team you can still work on different plans. I guess it's all down to the delivery.

Defensively we miss Tommy Smith and Berra, they were exceptionally good at attacking the ball in the air.

The signing of Walters was a clear admission that Hurst realised he had got things wrong; the signing of Graham was an admission that he didn't have a clue what to do about it.
