The money spent this year 09:00 - Dec 28 with 2211 viewsmoscow2000

I’ve been reading posts that this year we have spent a few million on players.
What hasn’t been suggested is that because of overinflated transfer fees being asked we realistically are not getting the million plus strikers or players we crave
£1 million ponds now is probably equivalent to £250000 a couple of years ago hence we’re not paying enough money even for top players from lower leagues
That suggests to me that Evans can’t see what’s staring him in the face
Lack of knowledge and investment in both management and players, if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

We spent around £1m on Garner and Waghorn at the start of last season. It's not just about how much money is spent but how it is used.

Agree. We have to spend wisely, which MM, despite his obvious flaws, was very good at. We should have about 3.5-5M surplus on the transfers from the summer though, so we do have a "war chest" that could, if wisely spent, bring in 2 quality players.

So do you blame Evans for not plunging the club massively further into debt by joining in the inflation bandwagon (if he could have afforded to), or should your anger be directed at those who allowed this to happen to English football, those among media and fans who revelled in it?

How much did we pay for Jackson? Nsiala?

Cost is not everything, I'd expect more value from Lambert spending £250K than Hurst spending £2M.

It's not the size, it's how you use it.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Although, with Hurst, most of it comes back to him being a short-arse doesn't it?

Broker a new buyer for the club, buy it yourself or just stop spouting nonsense.

I'll never forget Sky, especially Jim white revelling in one transfer window after English clubs spent over £1billion on transfer fees....

That for me is what is wrong with football.

football these days consists of vast sums of money , unless you spend what little you have very wisely , you can very easily end up on a slippery slope , this transfer window , that fact is more prevalent than ever , and for Ipswich Town , comes down to what the future of the club will be.

Wake up?

Did he not just give our 3 time player of the season a nice new 3 year contract?
He gave his new manager in the region of £6 Mill to spend in the summer
He covered the wages of bringing in Premiership Walters

Evans

So you are one of those revelling in the death-by-excess of English football? The end of the chances of an ordinary team (like Ramsey, Robson or Burley's Ipswich) making it to the top on skill alone, without billions of debt? The endless media slathering and drooling over the Prem's "big teams" and their spending in the hundreds of millions?

Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas!

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
