So.... who should I vote for at the next election?? 12:24 - Dec 12 with 14481 viewsCurrie10

A lot of people on here seem to fancy they know a lot re politics.
Let’s actually listen - who should I vote for next time??

Tories - mess central
Labour - weak opposition who love benefits
Lib Dem’s - to my mind finished due to coalition
UKIP - turns out the Farage party... done
Greens - pressure group that grow a small amount each time

Oh the options!!

Points for justification to that party - not simply slamming opposition....

You endorse the existing system that you don't want so the system thinks that's what you do want. Then you cry about it on a football forum. Brilliant.

You have absolutely no ideas.

I have lots of ideas, thanks babe.

If you don't think any party reflects your opinions you have two choices; vote for the candidate who you think will do the best job for you at a local level, or don't vote. Not voting really annoys them and it sends them a message.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

What are your ideas for changing the "outdated system" of first past the post to PR? Sounds like a good idea, I think lots of people would agree with you. How are you going to try and change things?

I completely agree with you. Unfortunately in Britain "the freedom to vote" has become a "duty" because we've been conditioned into thinking this because of soundbites like:

"voting is mark of respect to those who fought and died for this freedom"
"not voting is a vote for the other party"
"a non vote is a wasted vote"
"if you don't vote... Hitler"

Even going to the polling station and spoiling your paper or casting a blank vote is encouraged over non-voting, because "it sends a message". This is largely nonsense. Why wait 4 or 5 years to "send a message" when that message is silent? People can protest and send very clear messages every day of the year. It needn't be apathetic to not vote. It sends a very strong message that the system is flawed in some way and you're not going to perpetuate it any longer.

Our behaviour is deeply rooted in our culture, and our culture is shaped by our leaders through the media.

You're right, not voting really annoys them because you can't preach democracy to other countries when your own system is rejected by the very people they are supposed to be serving.

We need to show our leaders the DISrespect they have earned and expose parliament for the sham that it has become.

Who should I vote for?!

English Democrats. Want English Independence from the EU and UK. Conservative/Centre right politically. Unlike National parties like the SNP and Plaid who are socialist/left wing or the DUP deluded types who are harking for a UK/Britain that doesn't exist anymore.

It's time honoured TWTD practice to ask those who bleat about something to make a suggestion as to how they would improve things. I've asked you three times, but you have literally nothing to offer, not even a bad idea.

You don't have any ideas.

Depends who the leaders are. Under no circumstances would I vote for a Jeremy Corbyn led Labour Party. This is despite the fact I wouldn’t want to vote Tory. But would over Corbyn.

If you wouldn’t want to vote for a corbyn-led Labour, you do realise that doesn’t mean you have to begrudgingly vote Tory? There’s other parties out there as well

Yep. And formed an alliance with the Russian ultra right wing neo-Nazi group Russky Obraz. Who’ve a record of permanently removing any one who stands in their way, including judges.

Utter BS. I expected someone with your intelligence to be more savvy. The English Democrats are NOT a far right group. They have the same goals as the SNP and Plaid in wanting independence from the UK. Economically they are centre right/conservative but the party motto is not left, not right, just English. Your ignorance or laziness is typical of guardian types who see celtic nationalism as admirable yet English nationalism as 'ultra neo-Nazi' in nature as you I implied by having a dig at me and my posting history. I find that f@cking offensive btw but hey, sticks and stones. The likes of Billy Bragg and John Denham are not even remotely right yet are proponents of English nationalism. Being an English Nationalist in not far right, any more than an SNP supporter can be accused of being a Stalinist. Stop being lazy and get your facts right please.

We've been through this before. The English Democrats are described as a right to far-right party. And their most recent manifesto didn't call for independence, but rather an English parliament within the UK.

What the party's motto is is irrelevant, unless you believe that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is as suggested?

I personally support an independent England (within the EU), but the English Democrats are not a party I would ever consider voting for.

They’re a rebranded BNP, no more no less.

Luckily they’re also completely irrelevant and have no credibility at all and a tiny membership.

As someone who worked for the NHS for over 10 years, including the finance side of things - while I absolutely LOVE the NHS - people go on about it needs more £££.

Perhaps it does - however, it needs to use the ££££ it has a lot more efficiently in the first place.....

Story for another day!

In some parallel universe, if I was really peed off with the Conservatives (lets face it, the natural party of government), I can see how I might consider voting for a centrist Labour party, just for the lols.

However, a centrist party Labour currently is not, and if you think voting for crew Corbyn means nothing more than a little extra spending on the things you think are important, you will be in for a shock. Avoid avoid avoid. Anyone but Labour.
