Think this is a decent enough piece

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/apr/13/mick-mcarthy-forced-out-ip

The kind of all-too-common, delicate football-going flowers who are only too happy to dish out relentless abuse but swoon like Victorian ladies when any comes back their way

and

Worryingly, it sounded like the cruel baying of an angry, entitled mob of ingrates determined to stick a few last boots into the twitching corpse of an otherwise well-respected man

Made me laugh

And for balance so the numbskulls don't cry

Whatever you make of this contradictory stance, their frustrations are completely understandable. They are bored with the tedium of it all. They have not seen their team contest an FA Cup fourth-round match in six years. They have not beaten Norwich in nine attempts. Attendances are dwindling accordingly.

Change is overdue. They know it and so did McCarthy.

I thought Bryan K's comments yesterday about all pulling together were in stark contrast. Think a club of Town's size needs that 'all in it together' approach. Bobby Robson described Town as a "big little club" which I think sums it up perfectly.

I think at the end Mick saw the fans as peeing into the group, rather than out, in the end or whatever analogy he used i can't quite recall it!

Rightly or wrongly, when he comes back and if they beat us i think he will be lording it.

Which bit? I don't think the general gist of MM's fall has, but the ending certainly has. We've become this week's point and laugh piece because of it, which is the biggest frustration.

Hard to deny there's been growing animosity and a lack of olive branches for some time. Some utterly silly things said, but the paedophile thing really sticks for me, that's p1ssed off several people.

The whole made up bus attack defence seemed weirdly over compensatory for what was quite a clear and obvious decision too

The paedo thing must have been sung by what, 10 people. No one that I know who went heard it, neither did they see any hassle by the coach. Mick Mack was advised by the police and they obviously overreacted. I fully accept that the relationship was sour but it's nothing in comparison to the grief he got at Wolves and Millwall.

I am not condoning anything but the whole thing has gone out of control and let's be honest, a lot of it is because of Micks comments about feckers and imbeciles and the press have picked up on it.

So thin skinned feckers and imbeciles are to blame then? I agree.

At the end of the day Mick is 100% to blame, at least we can all agree on that.

But as I said this morning does it matter if it was 1, 10, 100 if it's stuck? We don't need that becoming a standard etc.

I know two different groups of people who heard it and also saw it on here, so it is arguably just the sharp end more like when someone tries to start up the Fashanu song and gets a glare or two I suspect. Not sure anyone's suggested it was some sort of coordinated movement have they?

Didn't someone say they got a text saying, there'd been an arrest outside the coach and it went from there? That and Klug's comment meant people got defensive and came up with 5.

What's done it really is the vitriol several pundits got when giving support of Mick and then the twitter rallying around anyone criticising him. One Wednesday fan wrote a tweet that seemed to become like a holy grail for a few.

I think his critics underestimate not just how good a job he has done, but how it's seen. Combined with his standing in the game. The weight of that has pressed their bubble in more than they expected it seems.

On the other hand how would you react if a manager in your employ pi$$ed off your client base?

I never, ever booed MM although I never wanted him at PR but, understood he had a job to do.

I would never make excuses for those who abused him but likewise he should never have reacted the way he did when it started (after a Brentford game when a 2 goal lead got wiped out?) which gave those who wanted him removed all the ammo they needed

He clearly hasn't "p1ssed off the client base" if people are trying to separate it into degrees of hyperbole. That's just nonsense.

Plus anyone who calls themselves a "customer" et al. can do one. It's football, it's tribal, if you want to use passion as a reason then crying about value for money etc. is a terrible double standard.

If you're talking about the 2-2 draw and saying it started there, we really are talking about single digits. People were gutted with the result but there was loads of positivity too, the fact we started with AMN and Emmanuel down the right being a big plus point etc.

It was a reference to Lyndon Johnson's quote re J Edgar Hoover: “It's probably better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in.”

I agree, MM felt fans were on the outside of the tent, certainly in the latter years of his tenure.

I think Klug was getting at the mere fact the security people of an away club felt that an ITFC manager needed an escort to protect him from our own fans is bad enough, whether anything much actually happened or not.

Whatever you wish to call those who pay at the gate or via an ST it comes down to much the same thing although some will go come what may others will not.
When team management falls out with the paying public ther is only going to be one outcome - you can replace a manager you can't replace the paying customer be they fan or not.
Town used to be a team that attracted paying public from far afield now after 5 1/2 years of MM they can't even retain full ST support. No owner can overlook that. To continue with MM could have seen record low gates at PR next season which means the owner would have to fork out even more £X Mns in support.
That is why I am surprised he didn't act sooner.

Yes, it's time to move on, it was a year ago really. On the other point, I'm often amazed at the thinness of skin of experienced managers. Whatever he said it clearly got to MM and anything which even hinted at being critical in a press conference was jumped on ("Don't ask me about tactics", "Daft question") and not answered.

The response to the (to my mind perfectly reasonable) question I asked about what treatment Emyr Huws was getting for his injury when they opted against an operation being an example of the overreaction to anything which appeared critical even when in that instance it wasn't anything of the sort.

On the one hand I imagine it must be highly tedious to be asked what one may think are "daft questions" (no offence to you of course luv but just as an example) week in week out especially if things arent going brilliantly. On the other hand Managers are paid enormous amounts of money at our level to handle those properly and without manufacturing or stoking conflict.

Further to the first bit, I also don't think it did MM too many favours in terms of his public image once pressers were shown live on Facebook, even if they were slightly more sanitised events once there was a wider audience.

Yeah I said at the time putting those pressers on FB is a really bad idea. Not so much Youtube or even on here as no disrespect intended but I Imagine the audience would be much smaller.

My favorite one was when people were saying that Aaron Cresswell doesn't know what it's like here....!

I liked the description on the pod, where he said some ITFC fans are making out like it's the Vietnam War - "You don't know man, you weren't there"

When the reality is we've just had a couple of years boring football marooned in mid table

Speak to other football fans and it reminds me of David Brent's advice as a motivational speaker

"If all men were to bring their miseries together in one place, most would be glad to take each, his own, home again, rather than take a portion out of the common stock."
