Right-back 13:18 - Jul 13 with 2604 views | Rudyard83 | With Emmanuel leaving on loan, would you say that we'll get one in (maybe on loan) to have backup to Spence, or Mick will make do with Chambers there? Seems a weak area, in depth, to me.
Right-back on 13:19 - Jul 13 with 2598 views | Reuser_is_God | I'd imagine Chambers will be the back up there. EDIT: Or Ward, he spent most of last season playing there anyway. [Post edited 13 Jul 2017 13:20]

Not what people will want to hear, but possibly Webster as well maybe? Where he first started playing for Portsmouth anyway.

I don't think he can be recalled as such but the loan can be cut short in January.
Right-back on 13:26 - Jul 13 with 2560 views | itfcjoe | I think we will need a back up, whilst Chambers can cover it leaves us short along the backline if there are any injuries Spence Chambers Taylor (Presuming he signs) Webster Smith Knudsen Kenlock That's not really enough when there is no emergency transfer window and Taylor has a poor fitness record - bear in mind on top of that last year we had Berra, Emmanuel and Digby.

Right-back on 13:29 - Jul 13 with 2525 views | simoitfc | if spence gets injured we can go 3 at the back if needed or play knudson and kenlock as full backs. chambers could do job as last resort. then bring josh back in jan if needed. think its a good move all round
I work with a Pompey ST holder..... on 13:30 - Jul 13 with 2523 views | Bloots |

....and when we signed him, he was insistent that he was a right back and not a centre back. Not ideal as you say, but something.

Exactly my thoughts. If Spence gets injured then there's only Chambers as cover, and he's not top quality. Then we're relying on him to not get a niggle (he's also ageing). And if he goes out wide then we're left stretched at centre back. IMO we need another defensive signing. [Post edited 13 Jul 2017 13:32]

Said a few weeks back I thought we were thin if Emmanuel left. My outside bet is Tendayi Darikwa at Burnley on loan. Really think we need stability at the back and no Chambo switching to RB if injuries start occurring.

Can't see many clubs sending us a player on loan to sit on the bench. Think we'll be looking for a mid-30s RB who recognises he is a back-up. A bit like Richardson was here for us a few seasons ago.

What about Nydam? As a backup option, up to it?

Another leftie, so if he were to back up a position it would be left back....

By all accounts Burnley have been using Darikwa + cash for Britt at Forest. I don't mind Spence but do think we could improve on him.
