10000%, he’s raw but got all the key ingredients to be a really good player, and having that consistency next season is going to be key. There’s going to be plenty of new faces but if we can hold onto Sarmiento and hutch they’ll be ready to hit the ground running
Massive step, but I’d hate to see this team dismantled. The players who have got us here deserve the chance to say they’re premier league players, even if a fair chunk of them might be squad players. I would hope we’d continue the model we’ve adopted in looking for the very best young talent who can be improved by McKenna. 6/7 quality young players, a mixture of loans and permanents on not too crazy wages so if we do go down we can keep the squad and bounce back up. Sarmiento on a permanent, Hutchinson back on loan then we need 5 more high quality youngsters to move the squad forward.
This is ridiculous isn’t it? Three changes to the starting 11 from Barnsley last year, one of which was on the bench anyway. Only two new players in the starting 11 and we’ve gone from securing promotion from league one to having the chance to secure promotion to the premier league. It’s crazy how much McKenna has improved every member of this squad.
Cracking game that. Your line up is practically the same vs Barnsley when you were in league one. Absolutely mental what you're achieving pic.twitter.com/fPB0vL1Vs1
This. I think the club know that they’ll sell out pretty much all home games if we continue our current form into next season so there’s more value in them reducing the number of season tickets and having more general sale tickets for each game. Even if 1% of people don’t renew, just can’t see them releasing these. Also if we’re in the prem don’t we have to give a higher percentage to away fans?
I’m with you on that one. I think if it wasn’t for Clarke’s injury he would be starting ahead of Tuanzebe, whose lack of passing ability completely isolated Omari today. Half decent defender but not good enough on the ball for me
Same architect, similar size and set up to Bristol’s training centre from the looks of things. I’m sure MA and KMK will put their twist on it to make it even better but looks like a massive massive upgrade to what they’re working with now!
If it’s within the next couple of year I would imagine they’re looking at between £80-£100 million if we’re assuming they’re going to go all out and include new offices, changing rooms, conference facilities, restaurants etc. Cost of materials has massively increased and this would be a very sizeable project. Fingers crossed they ensure the main contractor uses plenty of local contractors to further help the town.
Taken a lad worth £6million who hadn’t played men’s football and turned him into a £20million player in one season. Effectively earning Chelsea £14million alongside paying a big chunk of his wages. He’s also massively contributed to the success of our season so it’s win win for all parties involved but teams will surely be falling over themselves to send their best young players to us next season (assuming KMK is still with us).
I’d much rather see them out of the playoff picture if that’s where we end up. I wouldn’t be anywhere near as concerned about facing Leicester or Southampton in the playoffs as I would Leeds. They’ve got an air of confidence / arrogance about them and, to me, are the best team out of the three relegated clubs by a long way.
There’s actually a lot of opportunity around Portman Road to allow the club to expand in various ways. The bus depot (hadn’t heard anything about this one), the tip is moving so could potentially be purchased, the council are thinking of converting some of their office space into housing so could be an option for the club to take over some of this space for offices. All on top of the old staples site and the practise pitch.
With this development, it’s exactly the kind of thing that Ipswich needs and deserves to help rejuvenate the town, but with so many let downs in the past I just can’t see the council pulling it off without outside motivation / investment.
Anyone heard any whispers? Would be good to see a couple of bands lined up for the summer to bring in some extra revenue. Or do we think the pitch needs another year before it can handle that sort of thing?
Lots of admin - Snuts crossovers in various videos so wonder if they might be one we see at some point?
I never understand why someone doesn’t sit / lay on the penalty spot. It shouldn’t come to that but it happens at every penalty now. Just lay across it and wait for the ref to get control
Isn’t it strange that McKenna has announced these injuries? Would have thought that plays into Plymouths hands slightly with them having a better understanding of who they’ll be facing so just wondering whether one of them might miraculously be backed sooner than anticipated?
Chelsea should be paying us quite frankly! He’s developed incredibly well under McKenna in particular his decision making and end product. Chelsea should be falling over themselves to loan him back to us next season
Would hope that Chelsea will be falling over themselves to loan him back to us next season regardless of what league we’re in. He’s definitely improving now that he’s settled in. Makes me excited to see where Sarmiento and Al-Hamadi are in 5-10 games time once he’s fully up to speed with the way we play.
