Feb 2002 - I watched us away at Everton - I think he scored that day - was one of the 7/8 wins in a row which looked like it would save us from relegation but didn't! |

| News Comment | Aluko: Few Moments Like That in Football at 12:07:49
Will be sad if he has to leave - who will ever forget some of his top class moments - His defence splitting passes setting up Penney to pass to Bonne to score at Gillingham last season and his Burnley away one to set up Hirst, plus his close ball control and leaving the opposition mesmerised. Great guy - wish he was younger. |
| News Comment | Former Forward Clarke Dies at 22:32:08
I think they were 50k each - 100k was a big investment for the Cobbolds back in March 1970 - brave and bold - without it where would we have been? |

Some time in the 70's I think it was when the pitch was used for an England hockey international - that is a big testimonial to its quality/evenness |
| News Comment | Baltacha: Emotional and Unbelievable at 10:02:04
I am looking for some yellow and blue clothes to wear at Fleetwood on Saturday - somehow we all have to do everything we can. however small, to help draw a line on this madness, otherwise what happens next? |

Yes, I was on the Villa Park half way line at the 1975 semi v West Ham - I will never forget the sound of Ipswich Ipswich to Amazing Grace rolling down from the Holt end like a tidal wave of noise. I was amazed at how loud it was and it sounded like a song and not just a chant. It was the best I ever heard a Town crowd sing - very simple; one word Ipswich to a great tune - nothing beats it and it should be revived |
| News Comment | Boss Lambert and Assistant Taylor Leave Town at 10:47:15
Looks like after last week's outburst by Lambert he had become a "loose cannon" in Evans' eyes - the last thing you need in the background when doing a sensitive deal to sell the club |
| News Comment | Lambert: Kayden Let Everybody Down at 16:28:44
Crawford/Phillips , D Johnson no1 with Whymark, Whymark and Mariner, Mariner and Brazil, D Johnson 2 and Scowie or Stewart, even Murphy and Sears - those pairings correlate with our best years and most goals, so 2 upfront it should be, to support/play off each other and the rest of the team will feed them and also feed off them for more goals from midfield. |

Can't remember Magilton wasting too much, - Walters for 100k was a bargain and big profit when Keane got rid, McCauley very good, Norris OK , Mahon not so - perhaps I have forgotten the big other big spends he did? Nothing compared to Keane buying Priskin! |
| News Comment | EFL Statement Rules Out Extended Play-Offs at 14:29:54
Lowest since 1953 - that truly is depressing - I was born in 54 nearly 66 now - in my lifetime we had 2 of the greatest English managers ever and we climbed the highest mountain - now we are looking up from a very long way down; at least I hope we are looking up and not further down. Stay safe all. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: I Should Have Left Town Earlier at 10:04:18
Harlingblue - agree about the Man U match. I took 5 family members to that game at huge cost - Man U played Rooney and Schweinstiger etc - we had reserves - I definitely fell out of love a bit that night with the club I have supported since my first match at PR in 1967. And we still failed to win the following Saturday anyway! Best regards and stay safe. |
| News Comment | My Best Town XI: Charlie Woods at 16:29:40
My memory goes back far enough to have watched Charlie in 69/70. Great servant to the club. 100% agree with this team selection. I was lucky enough to meet Sir Booby in Barcelona. When talking about his three teams he built in that incredible 13 year period, I said although the 3rd team was the best, the one I was most fond of was the first one when we burst into the top 4 in 72/73 to everyone's surprise - Whymark , Johnson and Hamilton knocking them in, Viljoen Woods and Talbot creating and Mills Hunter and Beattie at the back - wow - what players, what a team! They launched us on that incredible journey that lasted for 10 more years and I was one of those lucky enough to witness so many great moments and such fantastic football. Whymark's 4 against Lazio, Town 6 Man U 0, the list is endless. Around mid 70's I think there was an England squad with 5 Ipswich players - someone can correct me but I think it was Johnson/Mills/Beattie/Woods and Whymark against Luxembourg- incredible! I gave Sir Bobby a book about Suffolk with many photos to remind him of the wonderful county he shared with us in those years. Inside I wrote " As the years go by, what you achieved for ITFC will seem ever more miraculous" - true then, even truer now. All the best and stay safe to all Town fans, especially us oldies looking back over their lives and having such wonderful memories to get nostalgic about. |
| News Comment | Tractor Girls' Cup Fairytale Ends at Manchester City at 17:31:44
Harsh comments on here - 8 teenagers in an amateur team against mostly international professionals, so the score is not surprising - to suggest a low ranked team should not enter the FA Cup because at some stage if they go far enough they will get a tonking rather negates the point of the FA Cup. Fram Town entered the mens - what do you think the score would have been if by some fluke they played their way through to get a 3rd round tie away at Liverpool! |
| Blog Comment | Wing Wonders (Part One) at 10:21:44
Great read - I was at that Arsenal match and can still feel the noise when Baxter's goal went in. As you say, Robertson was magic! Signing him and Clarke together must rank up there as the most inspired transfer dealings (apart from Muhren and Thijssen of course) done at one time , over 100k for the 2 was a big investment back then - the Cobbolds certainly knew how to run a club! |
