McGoldrick and Celina Miss Out at Charlton
at 15:35:02

Got to agree prebs - was discussing with my son yesterday & bet him this would be the sort of team Mick reverted to.
YES I KNOW WE HAVE ILLNESS & INJURY
but if any of you have been to any of the pre seasons I fail to see how you could not think Nydam is a more creative midfielder than Downes (& that's before we throw Dozzell into the mix!).
Don't get me wrong I am excited by Downes potential etc BUT as a replacement for Skuse NOT the creative presence we have all been crying out for.
With that selection & Micks clear "preference" for Downes (who he bigs up by saying "he's not afraid to get stuck in & dump some of the senior players on the ground) it does really show him reverting to type again.
In addition the ONLY time we looked attacking, progressive & dangerous at Colchester was the 20 mins after half time when the outfield team had Iorfa at RB, Webster at CB (with Chambo but could be Smith if preferred), Kenlock at LB (set up goal), McDonald/Nydam CM's (which today could be Skuse/Nydam .... or what about Downes/Nydam !!! Shock horror 2 youngsters), Rowe & Celina out wide (obviously Celina I'll today so Ward to cover) & Garner/McGoldrick up front (Sears playing that McG role today).
Even with illness we have the ability to play that style/utilise those less defensive players today .... but no Mick reverts to "solid" options across the pitch & a CM partnership of 2 similar more defensive players.
Welcome to last year !!!!
Am a bit sad having seen pre-season & especially the development/promise of some of the players (particularly Nydam, Iorfa & Webster) and a little bit angry tbh (as I type I see Micks proper blokes have just gone 3-0 down to Charlton !!!)

McCarthy: Benyu Didn't Look Like He Was Going to Contribute Before Aldershot Move
at 18:05:59

The complication being he was young, talented but not a "bloke" 😂
Come on Mick don't treat us as imbeciles !
If there truly was a "complication" as to why we couldn't make him an offer tell us what it was ?
Otherwise we will continue to doubt you, your methods & your priorities.

McCarthy Confirms Duo Set for Rotherham Loan
at 18:02:04

Agree with the majority of sentiments here ..... no problem re Moore but Emmanuel worries me.
Surely he is the perfect back up for Spence - young, developing, not expected to play every game but rather odd runs/games to build on experience of last season & u23 games.
I am afraid (& I'll be called hysterical I know 😀) in my opinion this smacks of Mick not trusting/prepared to develop youngsters. Whose cover now ? Do we sign someone rather than develop our own ? Back to Chambo ? (all backward/short term steps I am afraid)
I hope I am proved wrong but I fear we may not see Emanuel playing for us again .... and that would be sad 😞

Rotherham Boss Confirms Interest in Town Duo
at 15:30:39

Surely not right for Emmanuel to go out on loan at this stage !!
He made a number of appearances last year & whilst not reaching the heights of Kenlock surely will benefit this season as no. 2 choice at RB behind Spence in a 4-4-2 & arguable the better going forward in a 2-3-5.
Going on loan now has got to be a bit of a kick in the teeth & a step back.
Think it says a lot (again) about Micks true feelings about youth & the 5 point plan !!!!
Confused & a bit sad .....

Barnsley Linked With Town Target Samuel
at 09:52:55

Do we genuinely need him ? Hardly ripped up trees when he got the chance at the end of the season ?
Surely keep Pits, utilise our youngsters & spend the budget elsewhere .....
Only look to sign a proven goal scorer (or Lawerence if he really is available for around £1.5m)

Celtic Confirm Benyu Signing
at 17:04:27

Not sure I am as dismissive as some on here about another talented youngster our academy has produced leaving before they got a crack at the first team here and would love to know what the staff in the Acadamy think when they see this happen !
I am not sure we are in a position to be so flippant with our talent even when they might be perceived as a "bit difficult" (reckon Gazza & George Best were a challenge!!!) so a bit sad over this & hope we don't regret it.
Good luck Kundai prove the miserable old sod wrong 😀

Moore and Emmanuel Could Join Rotherham
at 10:35:51

Totally agree - Moore fine, Emmanuel no.
In a back 5 he is the best option not Spence (in a flat back 4 Spence is) so losing him means both Mick maybe intends doing away with that system - which genuinely bought the only progressive football we played last year - and our players not real cover at present is Chambo - please let's not go back to that !!!!
If Emmanuel goes out on loan we will need to sign cover and where's the sense in that ?
PLEASE USE OUT YOUNGSTERS/TALENT AND DEVELOP THEM HERE !!!

Town Eyeing Tunnicliffe Return
at 11:51:34

My big worry with this type of signing is how it affects the opportunities for our youngsters.
Decent player, more experience than last time, probably a good squad player ..... but a marquee, exciting, aimed on starter signing ? Not sure about that.
Therefore will only "block" our own home grown, young players chances of developing in my opinion & as a club with "financial constraints" surely in the long run that's where our success will come from rather than loanees, freebies & non league punts (you don't get too many Mings' over a 10 year period I am afraid !!)
I get the argument that they "aren't ready" and they aren't likely to be as consistent as a 24 year old with experience .... but if they do not get chances how are they supposed to develop that experience/consistency?
All in all thanks Ryan, no reflection on you but rather see our youngsters developed even if it means we struggle a bit at times.

Blues and Tykes Eyeing Isgrove
at 16:17:59

Reckon this would be good for us - decent background/experience, winger, not a loan, young .... fits the infamous "5 point plan" & hopefully Mick will play him !!
Agree with others re other more central midfield options - would like to see us really persist with our own youngsters. We seem to have a few in that position so rotate them, give them a chance one by one/2 in a strong team & not just chuck them all in to a League Cup game together. We may then see some real progress in terms of quality of squad & quality of play ...... as well as linking back to our roots in producing our own players.
It started last year with Emanuell & Kenlock so please Mick give us something to be proud of again.

Garner Move Set to Be Completed This Week
at 16:59:35

I said yesterday that at £500,000 this would be a good signing .... at £1m it feels a little expensive BUT if it's not the end of the outlays but signals the start of some real investment/desire by Evans/Mcarthy then great.
Hope the change back to the Championship is just the spur he needs to re-create his Preston form & wish him well.
If it's the only signing or considered our summer "marquee" signing then I think we might be in trouble !

Bristol City and Wolves Linked With Huws
at 19:42:16

Think this one will be indicative of where we are & how the infamous Mick/Marcus chat went.
If they are both genuine in wanting to invest/spend more then we will get him .... if we don't it's just another smoke & mirrors exercise I am afraid.
& before everyone solely blames Marcus (who clearly has to shoulder his portion of the lack of ambition) I ask the question why would Mick stay if he genuinely was consistently asking for deals to be done like this & not being backed ..... do you honestly think the "self proclaimed" genius would stand for it ??
Personally I think not. I think to a certain extent Mick says what he "thinks" a player is worth & not to go above it. it sometimes suits him to pretend he doesn't know what is going on/he's not involved but I think it actually highlights his judgement & understanding of the current market myself.
He just wants to keep trying to do a "Tyrone Mings" & "saving Ipswich on a budget" as he thinks that makes him look good .... his ultimate aim in my opinion.
Sooner gone, the sooner we can move on & get back to being the proper club we used to be.

McCarthy: Forest Game Could Be Berra's Last for Town
at 15:49:57

Quick 😂😂😂
Seriously though a good servant but just over his best this year so go with our thanks & blessings and perm 3 (or 2) CB's from Smith, Webster, Chambo, Knudsen, possibly Taylor & either a youngster or a new CB. That's plenty & will allow us to play 2 or 3 formations and allow for any injuries.
On another tack have you noticed how Mick has started to drop in comments about how "that's up to Marcus" or "I believe we haven't taken up his option". Does he genuinely want us to believe he doesn't know these things/isn't part of the decisions !!!
It's almost like he's trying to say it's out of his hands (which I agree is the case where a player wants to go) but he did the same over Chambo in Jan and has done this previously.
I cannot believe that it's his huge ego he would accept a situation where he isn't involved in player decisions ... so why try to pretend !!!
All part of his "deflection" tactics in my view - trying to move away from any criticism and/or pulling others in.
Poor management in any industry in my view .... take responsibility, be prepared to accept criticism & respect others (fans) and you may find people have a bit more respect for you sir !

McCarthy: Progress of Young Full-Backs a Positive
at 17:32:09

Yet again "false news" from Mcarthy - the young players DO NOT get grief ..... far from it .... it's the old farts he plays that tend to get the stick.
But that version of events doesn't fit Micks "I know best" myopic view of the world does it.
Get lost ...
