Bristol City and Wolves Linked With Huws
Thursday, 8th Jun 2017 19:24

Bristol City and Wolves have reportedly joined Town in showing interest in Cardiff midfielder Emyr Huws, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Blues during the second half of 2016/17.

Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed at the end of the season he’d like to bring Huws back to Portman Road next season, but according to the Daily Mail the Robins and Wolves are also keen, while we understand other Championship clubs kept tabs on the 23-year-old during his spell with the Blues.

Huws has another two years on his Cardiff contract but wasn’t in Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock’s plans prior to his January move to Town having made only two starts and two sub appearances.

The Wales international said in April that he had enjoyed his time at Portman Road having scored three goals in 13 starts and hoped a deal could be done in the summer.

Huws took a paycut to join Town on loan and his high wages could prove to be an obstacle as the Blues look to sign him on a permanent basis.

Says it all in the article. Huws took a pay cut to join us on loan. Highly unlikely to do so on a permanent deal. Can't blame him. Bristol and Wolves will probably both out bid us. Shame.

Now the chips are down we'll see just how motivated Evans really is.

I'm preparing to be disappointed!

I wonder what Cardiff are looking for in a way of a fee. Im sure its over a million which pretty much rules us out. Club should be working overtime trying to sort this mess we find ourself in. Not on holiday and waiting for mid June to start. Preparing for a relagation this season already.

Think this one will be indicative of where we are & how the infamous Mick/Marcus chat went.
If they are both genuine in wanting to invest/spend more then we will get him .... if we don't it's just another smoke & mirrors exercise I am afraid.
& before everyone solely blames Marcus (who clearly has to shoulder his portion of the lack of ambition) I ask the question why would Mick stay if he genuinely was consistently asking for deals to be done like this & not being backed ..... do you honestly think the "self proclaimed" genius would stand for it ??
Personally I think not. I think to a certain extent Mick says what he "thinks" a player is worth & not to go above it. it sometimes suits him to pretend he doesn't know what is going on/he's not involved but I think it actually highlights his judgement & understanding of the current market myself.
He just wants to keep trying to do a "Tyrone Mings" & "saving Ipswich on a budget" as he thinks that makes him look good .... his ultimate aim in my opinion.
Sooner gone, the sooner we can move on & get back to being the proper club we used to be.

Time for him to show how desperate he is for first team football like he was saying during his loan. I'd imagine both teams would offer better wages than us but he knows he'd play here. Hope we get it done.

If it was Rochdale and Southend we was up against I wouldn't fancy our chances so Bristol city and wolves will easily outbid us so can't see it happening, I expect we might see johnny Williams back for a forth stint on the treatment table

F*ck sake! Well can't help but feel negative about our chances of bringing him in!!!

Money was apparently made available during the January window so why would that be any different now???, you could argue that ST are down and ME will tighten his belt some more (if that's possible!!) but there's a fair way to go til the start of the season and I'm still quietly confident there will be new additions coming in.... but like I have stated many times, I'm more bothered by what goes on the pitch (pass and move with offensive tactics) rather than what goes on in the boardroom!!!

One of the rare successes last year and we're going to lose out again what a joke

I don't know what anybody else thinks on here but sadly with this setup anything apart from bottom next season is a bonus what a sad sad time in our proud history this is for us true fans and there's buggar all we can do about it

Unrelenting bad news from the club - what a start to the close season! Milts leaves the Academy Sales role, L resigns as Chair of the Supporters Club now strong competition for Huws, McGoldrick injured again. Pull your fingers out Itfc we are slowly dying.

Let them have him. He played several games for us, sometimes he did brilliant things but most of the time went missing. Why do you think Warnock wants rid? In our midfield we want players who get on the ball and dictate play and want the ball and you know there, there. Having said that players like that cost higher wages and/or a fee. Our wonderful regime don't want either.

Both Wolves and Bristol City are more ambitious than us they'll put their money where their mouths are. Just can't believe if the club wanted Huws, that a deal couldn't of been agreed once the season finished? We just seem to wait as usual and feed off the scraps, like a runt of a litter. Not strong enough to compete, so just keeping waiting to see what's left.....pathetic! Perhaps relegation is best, so the club can just start again. At the moment, it just seems we're are just doing enough to keep our heads above water. We're in a real sorry state- the lack of any communication out of the club is a concern too!

Look at us trying to sign players other people want too. If no one wanted him, I'm sure some people would throw a fit about that too.

Neither wolves or Bristol have parachute money, so if this is true it shows just how much our club has fallen over the past 10 years

....... no chance for us then - both Clubs have far more ambition than us - is the reality of it all.

Freebies, has beens, never were's - only have a future at Portman Road these days.

I so hope we do sign him :( I managed to buy him on FIFA for £1 million plus Skuse and 1 season on he is rated 80 ;) and one of my top performers (along with Sears and Webster)

.... ArnieM - I think all your lost faith is totally justified. Credit for having much more than some of us did - or for it lasting that much longer.

There he goes then...agree with Cloddyseedbed though, he will be remembered for scoring the goal at Villa - he had a few reasonable games and certainly a few you wouldn't know he was on the pitch i.e. Norwich away

Let's face it he didn't need to do that much with the majority of our midfield players last season to stand out somewhat even in a few games.

What a bloody joke..... Evans should be hanging his head in shame....

is this actually a news story ? We're interested in signing Huws , so are two other clubs (at least)
But everyone's decided oh that's it , he's not signing for us and Evans should hang his head in shame . It's all rumours at this stage , lets just wait and see .
Trying to imagine the mick/evans conversation is futile .
Mick is more likely to have said , Marcus , another season like lastis a waste of my time and yours !!
But none of us were there!!
