Silly things I look forward to next season

The big difference between when we were last regulars on Match of the Day and ITV’s wretched, The Premiership is that now, we’ll get a proper highlights package each week. No more 45 seconds of footage, but at least 5-15 minutes each week. And THAT theme tune will feature something Ipswich related for the next 9 months at least.

I disagree. If Leeds channel their disappointment effectively, they will win the play-offs.

Have a lovely afternoon/evening/summer everyone.

I’m taking the wife out for dinner tonight to celebrate.

McKenna - the squad - Ashton - Gamechanger, thank you so much for what you’ve done. You all enjoy the best time possible over the next few weeks, because you deserve it.

Last day muck
at 21:37 2 May 2024

I contributed to one of these threads on the When Saturday Comes board earlier. Are there any Town fans here who went to Bradford on the final day of the 87/88 season? A win would have seen Bradford get automatically promoted to the First Division. Our form from January onwards had been pretty dismal and we had subsided to an 8th place finish. But on that day we beat Bradford 3-2 and they lost out in the play-off semi finals.

As things turned out, a draw would have sent them up on goals scored, but Aston Villa nipped in ahead of them thanks to a goalless draw and went up over Middlesbrough due to goals scored.

My Twitter feed this morning had a tweet from a Town fan stating that we only need 1 point to go up and featuring a picture of Mick captioned with "Be careful what you wish for".

I replied with a photo of Evans captioned "Be careful what you wish for" and told him that I fixed his tweet for him.

Strictly speaking, if we lose tonight, then the possibility is that our next away Championship match will either be at Norwich, West Brom or Hull again.

Carry on….

Family commitments. Everyone was still cheering Town on at the pub though.

I’ve slated him for a goal that I saw, and others have slated him for a goal that they saw.

It really isn’t difficult to grasp.

I haven’t slated him for the third goal. I slated him for the first goal, which I did see, and got a load of abuse for doing so. I get home to find most of the rest of the board criticising him for the third goal, which when taken in tandem suggests that the problem last night was the goalkeeper and not the fans who got upset at the goalkeeper messing up.

The emotional over-reaction thread
at 10:08 28 Apr 2024

I posted a thread criticising Hladky on the first goal and got a load of abuse in return from the kinds of idiots who doubtless applauded us to relegation in 2018/19.

I missed the second half as I’m visiting my family this weekend and we went out at half time. I followed the score updates and based on those, could only conclude it was a humdinger of a second half. And then I get back to find people lamenting Hladky’s performance and blaming him for the third goal - which I haven’t seen yet. So, if a player consistently messes up in a game and costs us a big win, can we please recognise that said player has had a ‘mare and not get into SuperFan cock waving “He’s criticising one of our players. How dare you! You don’t deserve the season we’re having!” Well none of us deserve our keeper causing us to mess up ANOTHER opportunity to go into the top 2 and nail down promotion.

I’ve been patient and tried not to get too high or too low, what will be will be. But it will be unforgivable. if we throw it away from here. Get. It. Done.

Yes in that they know what their minimum target is now. They just have to go out and do it….

I do feel a smidgin of sympathy for them with two away games and a Monday-Friday turnaround.
But I sincerely hope that thoughts and prayers is all we give them over our next 3 games.

Rosenior's just labelled Saturday their 'cup final' *gulp*
at 23:02 24 Apr 2024

Well from a Hull perspective, they need to play like it’s a cup final given the way they’ve crapped the bed since around mid February and allowed Norwich to steal past them and into the top 6.

Rosenior’s nomination for manager of the year was one of the dumbest I’ve ever seen outside of a Best Supporting Actress Oscar shortlist.
