| News Comment | Town Confirm Al-Hamadi Signing at 16:14:45
@Jewellinthetown - thanks for posting that, Toxteth lad too it seems. I understand they are made pretty tough in that part of Liverpool. Can see him roughing up a few defenders. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Al-Hamadi Signing at 15:41:12
Despite his family bloodline, name and appearance, I imagine his accent will actually be that of a Liverpudlian? Bit like Jan Molby back in the day : looked the archetypal Dane but was scouse through and through. |
| News Comment | Delia and Husband Issue Statement on Car Incident at 20:31:26
Surely the Club can only apologise for an incident that was at least somewhat within their control : I.e inside the stadium. Why is the Club expected to apologise for a random act committed on a Public Highway? We don’t even know it was a Town fan that did it, maybe is was a passer by or a disgruntled Norwich fan. Who knows. I actually rather like Delia but this statement is utter drivel. |
| News Comment | EFL Publishes 2023/24 Squad Lists at 14:46:08
I’m not suggesting they are all world beaters but I don’t think there’s a single filler in that 24 that can’t at least ‘do a job’ for the team. Very impressive, especially when you weigh in some of the youngsters we have. |
| News Comment | Town Launch Official Podcast at 18:37:26
Although his career tailed off after Breaking Bad, I'm still surprised to read that he's taken on the presenting of an ITFC podcast. |
| News Comment | Town to Wear Blackout Kit Against Derby at 19:05:53
I'm pretty sure we wore a black kit in a 3-1 win away at QPR in the early noughties which was a live game on Sky? You could argue that's a goodish omen and I also very much like the current 3rd kit : but I'm firmly with the majority on this one, at home we play in Blue, end of. This is modern football commercialism / gimmickry that most fans have to endure though, and at least we look secure at FPR and aren't likely to move to a soulless stadium on the outskirts of Town. |
| News Comment | Plymouth and Town Fans to Pay Tribute to Mariner at Home Park at 17:33:20
When Ipswich were away, me and my mate Mick took to watching Harwich and Parkeston, as Kevin Beattie was playing for them. (1985-1986, I think) We used to sit on the 'Main Road' terrace, there was no need to stand as there was only about 10 other punters. On one occasion, Mick turned to me and said "there's Paul Mariner, he's coming over". I thought he was taking the piss but it was indeed PM and he sat with us for most of the match, just chatting about football and asking how we were doing at school etc. Unbelievably nice man. During the game, he advised me to stop smoking (PM, not Mick) |
| News Comment | Town to Ban Fan Indefinitely For Racist Slur at 19:48:22
We used to have a reputation for being everyone's second team. When that went, we at least still had a reputation for being a well run club that played the game the right way. Having gone into administration, and then playing some of the ugliest football on offer for many years, all we currently have left is our reputation as friendly fans. FFS, lets not lose that too. |
| News Comment | Legend Brazil on Mend After Heart Problem at 16:36:28
Had the pleasure of meeting him briefly a couple of times in The Anchor Inn and Milsoms, super friendly on both occasions. Top bloke and superb player, fingers crossed for a speedy and full recovery. |
| News Comment | Judge: I Think It’s Just That Bit of Confidence at 18:25:10
Confidence can be restored with a couple of good results and or performances : but that's unlikely to happen when the team lacks ability, desire or fight. Not good enough to play their way to victory and not physical enough to win ugly. We don't have any hard men. Even Downes and Nolan are headless rather than tough and Norwood is more of a nuisance than a power house. Way too nice, lightweight and nothing for opponents to fear. |
| News Comment | Town Takeover Stalls at 20:11:30
I think a deal was very close to being done but collapsed shortly after the story broke. IMHO that's why Lambert wasn't sacked earlier, Evans was going to leave that to the consortium. Once the deal was off, he moved quickly to bin Lambert and appoint Cook. He was never going to pay off Lambert when there was a prospect that someone else would. |
| News Comment | Gill: A Game We Have to Win at 17:52:33
For Critchley to comment that we're “well coached” strongly suggests he hasn't seen us play since the reverse fixture. That's a pity, as based on the last 2 months he'd have been tempted to rest a few first teamers. Hope I'm wrong but I sense a plucky/improved performance but Blackpool still to come out on top. Nailed on that Garbutt scores. |
| News Comment | Owner Evans Apologises for Careful What You Wish For Comment at 20:54:08
Waiting for a better/fairrer share of TV revenue is not a strategy, if it happens all other clubs will equally benefit, meaning it gives Town no advantage. (unless you think Mr Evans will invest/spend more shrewdly than other owners) As for the apology, it smacks of a desperate effort to appease rather than being heartfelt. The original comment was either remarkably naive or he didn't care. Not good either way. I don't subscribe to the at least he keeps us afloat line. He bought the club out of vanity or a desire to make a good return, probably both. His purchase was not an act of altruism, and his tenure has been pretty much an unmitigated disaster. Is it best to drift about in league one hoping for no further decline or to start again. Neither is very appealing. |
| News Comment | Owner Evans Issues Statement at 19:52:04
In other words, I blame you the fans for making me sack Mick against my better judgement and I won't be forced into making the same mistake again : inspired leadership and I'm sure we can all unite behind this stirring call to arms. |
| News Comment | Evans Writes to Fans as 2020/21 Season Tickets Go on Sale to Existing Holders at 21:06:59
Err, shouldn't Evans opening paragraph read “....and a special thank you to NHS and other key workers putting others ahead of themselves....”? In my experience, there is very little evidence to support Evans slur that NHS and other key workers are putting themselves ahead of others... |
| News Comment | Town-Everton Tie to Feature as FA Cup Quarter-Final Classic at 21:05:45
Exeterblue, if memory serves me right, Osman was very harshly judged to have handled. It was clearly an accident and right on the edge of the area. For the avoidance of doubt, yes I'm still bitter, and yes, I should get out more. |
