| News Comment | Former Forward Clarke Dies at 16:33:48
Didn't have the class of his brother Allan but he was very brave at a time when forwards got roughed up more than they do today. Frank never hesitated to dive in where there was the distinct possibility of getting hurt. |

Thank you moggasnotebook for actually having something sensible to say. 1. We know brugger all about the details of the proposed takeover. Speculation is futile. 2. ME has looked after the staff during this long crisis. 3. He gave his first two managers money for transfers and they spent it badly. 4. He is now concentrating on the academy. Let's not forget that Sir Bobby's overachievers were mostly products of the youth scheme and that Robson actally made a profit on transfers. Call me whatever you like, but I am quite pleased to know that Evans is likely to retain ownership for a while. |

He's reputed to be a free kick specialist and we haven't had anyone like that for far too long. For that alone it would be worth giving him at least 45 minutes. |
| News Comment | Town to Appeal Dozzell Red Card at 10:23:30
Sharkey is right. The omission of prepositions impoverishes the language. We need to distinguish between appealing AGAINST an injustice and appealing TO someone's better nature. We have the same problem with protest used without the preposition against. If you PROtest you obviously speak/testify for or in favour of something, unless you reverse the meaning by adding the preposition against. Without a preposition you protest your innocence. Call me a pedantic old beggar if you will, but an omitted preposition is the sort of thing a smart lawyer will leap upon. |

He is right to stress that it is not an "Evans out" campaign. In the absence of a potential buyer we have no alternative but to seek a dialogue with the man who puts several million into the club each year. ME is an intelligent man who surely understands that the even the extraordinary tolerance of Town fans is not infinite. |
| News Comment | Evans: We Need to Be a Footballing Team at 10:12:44
If he wanted a footballing team why didn't he appoint George Burley to replace Hurst? With George you know you are going to get a team that passes the ball and keeps possession. |

I too was at that match with Arsenal when Jimmy Robertson was inspired. Bobby Robson was a shrewd operator in the transfer market and signing Robertson and Frank Clark undoubtedly kept us in Division 1. The incredibly skinny Frank Brogan was a great goal-scoring winger. He was a right-footed left winger who bamboozled full backs because they never knew whether he was going to go outside them and whip in a cross with his left foot, or cut inside and hammer a shot with his right. I only saw Joe Broadfoot during his second spell at Portman Road when he was past his best and certainly overweight. However, I remember an evening match when he was unstoppable against his old club, Millwall. A lot of fans didn't really appreciate Mick Lambert. I think the problem was his ungainly style: he had a peculiar way of running and just didn't look like a professional athlete. But he nevertheless got past defenders, scored regularly and never got booked. |

I have never known anyone repeat himself as much as PL does. He says everything he has to say in his first two sentences, then says it again, and again, and... |

You're right, Len. We played them when they were losing 5-0 every match. They'll be tougher to beat now that they've recruited some men to complement their brave but outmuscled kids. Could it be that we're getting some luck this season? We've had three penalties already. How many did we have all last season? |
