| Forum Reply | Kieran McKenna - Demolition Man? at 08:22 1 May 2024
Yeah - I think from the 25 man squad if you take out Jackson, Donacien, Aluko, Harness, Ball, Williams, Moore, Travis (hopefully we try to sign Sarmiento and Hutchinson) that's eight spaces - and you'd expect that a decent chunk of the replacements would be first 11 players. Maybe Luongo and Edmundson would be two who might leave and might not depending on how much they like it here, and how much they want first team football. Maybe Al-Hamadi, Humphreys and Baggott would get lower Championship team loans. But wholesale change for the sake of change is pointless, and our great strength over the last two years has been team spirit, identity, togetherness. |

Don't really like the idea that they've got zero to play for - some players will be putting themselves in the shop window for a decent move in a high-profile game against good opponents, others will be playing for contracts / to win the shirt for next season etc. etc. |

I've just been in Extremadura for a week, lots of Hoopoes and lots of other cool birds - stayed in Trujillo, a couple of hours to the west of Madrid. Definitely recommended at this time of year (mid-April) before it's too hot. Hoopoe relative density map here: https://ebba2.info/maps/species/Upupa-epops/ebba2/abundance/ |

Sounds bad, must be really frustrating - ice it as much as you can, it can really make a difference in the long run to recovery times, if you haven't got one make sure you've got one of those packs with the strap that you put in the freezer. |
| Forum Reply | Whatever league next season at 11:36 14 Mar 2024
There are quite a few things up in the air, but I think a relatively conservative guess gives it at about 16 current players in the 25 man squad for next year. No idea what the plans are for Ndaba and El Mizouni, but they would be relatively cheap back-ups for the 25-man squad so could see them here. I am just assuming that Donacien, Jackson, Ball and Edmundson will want first-team football, not saying they should be ditched: Hladky Clarke Tuanzebe Burgess Woolfenden Ndaba Morsy Luongo Taylor El Mizouni Harness Chaplin Burns Broadhead Hirst Al-Hamidi Leaving: Jackson, Aluko, Ladapo, Camara, Edmundson, Davis, Ball, Donacien [Post edited 14 Mar 11:36]

For balance though, Burnley's approach was wild, to just bring in a whole new team and a half of mostly young European players with no experience of the Premier League. And Sheffield United have got Chris Wilder stringing five across the middle and Oli McBurnie ploughing a lone furrow up top, so not exactly foward thinking. We'd be most like Luton - they kept their identity and mentality, made some sensible acquisitions, and they also have some players who look like they've made a step up. |
| Forum Reply | Relative run-ins at 13:20 4 Mar 2024
Probably not too far apart from what I reckon - I think of the three teams in the top three, Leicester will have the worst end to the season and it'll end up very close between the top three on eg 93-95pts and Southampton on 88-90pts. |
| Forum Reply | Relative run-ins at 12:36 4 Mar 2024
Personally think all four teams are going to be dropping points here and there unexpectedly as we get closer to the end of the season and none of them will get that close to 100 points. EG Sheffield Wednesday are on a great run (even though second bottom), and will definitely give us and Leeds a good game, I'd be very surprised if they lost both matches. [Post edited 4 Mar 12:38]

Can't see why Chelsea would sell this summer, think a good loan next year at a mid-ranking Bundesliga team or Notts Forest etc and he's a £40 mil player. Ah, just seen only one year left on contract, maybe they will sell this summer. [Post edited 27 Feb 9:50]

Either way it's great that guys like Kayden Jackson, Cameron Burgess, Massimo Luongo who you wouldn't have expected to be able to play a significant role in a championship promotion chase a few years ago are able to do that - I think that's due to a mix of McKenna's coaching, really clearly defined team roles, a supportive, positive environment, and the players themselves being motivated to work really hard on improving. |
| Forum Thread | Sneaky feeling Leicester might slip-up against QPR at 08:56 27 Feb 2024
Rangers in decent form, two defeats in row for Leicester and two tough away games coming up after QPR and home to Saints after that, the crowd will be a bit nervous given the run Leeds and us are on. Wouldn't be shocked if those two defeats in a row quickly turned into 5 games without a win and them slipping right back into the pack. |

Yup - It would be really funny though if he got the West Ham job in the summer, and did a Paul Hurst - p*ssed off Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta on his first day at training, sold them off to United, and replaced them with Marcus Harness and Sam Morsy for £15 million combined. Conor Chaplin would be really good at finding space behind Moore at set-pieces as well, a la that goal against Sunderland, because so much attention would be on Moore. |

If we don't go up then as long as Davis stays fit and in form for the rest of the season there's no way we'll be able to keep him and he'll move on for minimum £15m but probably more, meaning we're totally fine financially and will be able to reinvest etc. |
| Forum Reply | Celtic apparently looking to sign a left back at 12:48 1 Feb 2024
Don't think they'd be able to afford Davis, and it wouldn't make that much sense for him - if he stays to the summer then (if we don't get promoted) he would be of interest to the mid-table and lower Prem clubs. |
