| Forum Reply | Raise a glass to Paul Cook at 17:15 3 May 2024
Few things. Cook was a likeable fella, had to put up with personal issues in his short time here as well which probably didn't help. Whilst the results were by and large, pretty awful, myself and many at the time all commented that we were trying to play the right way and it was at least entertaining, although mostly for the opposition/neutral lol! He did sign some of my favourite players. Burns, Chappers, Morsy and Burgess are right up there already with Holland, Dyer, Magilton, Petta, Reuser, Tarrico and Chambo (ducks) |

It's one day...I eat like an Eygptian king the rest of the week, my wife feeds me grapes each morning, naked of course, brushing my brow, we go full role play, gold paint and everything. I even make a mock pyramid with the bedsheet. |

Nobody turned their back. Some just prioritised differently. Think back to those latter Tuesday night games with Roy Keane which was akin to paying Waitrose prices to have my nut sack sandpapered and dipped in TCP. I'll forgive anyone who decided not to go as regularly as it was awful. |

Only option is you pay £80 or whatever for a <ahem> "flight to Italy" V ia P ersonal N ode of transport then a further £10 for an iFollow pass.... It's the only way to be sure. If we lose and you've not made the effort... |
| Forum Reply | Superstitions and routines at 09:46 3 May 2024
My son and I went on the train to a home game one game last season...one f****** game and we lost (Lincoln) and he's driven to every home game since. We also have wine gums at half time (maynards) bought from the little shop near the curve bar. We've drawn two games where that shop have run out and we've had to pay the £45 per pack or whatever it is in the stadium lol! We then go and get our sh*tt* hot dog from outside the stadium and lean on the fence until the team comes in. We then enter the same turnstile and get our sausage roll and a sprite before sitting and watching all the pre match routines. (I'm studious, it's what I do). But not superstitious obviously. |

Your posting 'style' makes me feel like you know something we don't about McKenna and Brighton. |
| Forum Reply | 35k capacity ground isn't even enough is it? at 16:40 1 May 2024
I'm with the 35k route. Any more and when attendances do tail off (sadly, you can't be on the up forever) 18k in a 40k stadium is like having a tiny penis and having a go at rattling the oldest pro in the 'dam, good effort and all, but ultimately a souless experience (so I've heard). Any development would likely be as mentioned, hotel, bars, restaurants etc. It'll be an event, taking West Ham fans would be a huge tast, they have all that lovely Stratford waterside etc to wander around and the Westfield area, families can make a day out of that no issues. That ain't happening for a long time unless Ipswich get to host the Olympics in 2040. |
| Forum Reply | IF we go up at 11:52 1 May 2024
I think 5/6 too, just evolve much of what we've got, will sadly lose those on the fringes (all have played a part) those currently first choice quite likely become good, quality and trusted squad players who know they have a massive part to play. Feel sad to see any player from this squad go. Literally all of them will always been remembered. Days of having players singled out for not being good enough etc have gone and it's been wonderful. Everyone knows the squad have done it, even down to the culture of training sessions being high which even if they're not playing, keeping the better (or those playing more) players honest throughout a season is a big reason we are where we are. Still one more game. |
| Forum Reply | Premiership? Do we have a strong enough squad? at 14:52 29 Apr 2024
Nice to think that the spine of the team remains in place to a large extent. Clarke, Woolf, Burgess (1 year option), Davis Morsy, Luongo, Taylor Broadhead, Burns, Chaplin Hirst Think Tuanzebe will be kept. Williams was a big shame, just realised he took up a place and never really gave us anything to support at RB or LB. If we went up, Hutchinson becomes #1 priority for me. I think we need some pace in the middle, although Taylor has all the right attributes, we'll need another there. Sheaf for me is the player I think would suit us briliantly. Asprilla would be a great player to interchange with Burns. Up top....Hirst I'm confident can do a job at the next level again, we'll see him continue to improve. Latte Lath for his pace would be a nice signing, feel like we'd need some extra speed across the team in PL as we'd not have anywhere near as much of the ball and will need to make the most of counter attacks. That said.....who knows what McKenna can do?! |
| Forum Reply | Will you be disappointed… at 09:04 23 Apr 2024
Disappointed in some respects, but only because to lose out at the last is always painful. Ultimately, i've had the best season watching us for over 20 years. As someone else said, if I knew McKenna was here next season whatever the situation, i'd feel much more positive. When you look at it though, losing out to the squads of Leicester and Leeds does put it in perspective why we (might) just fall short, and it's certainly not through effort or lack of attention to detail. | Forum Reply | That feels like a massive win for Leeds…. at 08:58 23 Apr 2024
It's the timing of everything that hurts. Start of season, offered 3/4th spot, 99/100 fans would have taken it without a second thought. If we end up in the playoffs, I fancy us being able to beat any of the teams over two games. The final is a final, different prospect all together, but it's a chance. There's also that fairytale of Hirst scoring at Wembley in the final to imagine. |
| Forum Reply | As much as I dislike Norwich and also want Sheff Weds to survive at 14:37 22 Apr 2024
Worth remembering we're Hull's last home game of the season, they won't want to end on a loss at home. Whatever the results elsewhere, Hull and Coventry will be very difficult games to come away with wins from. Huddersfield could also be massive for both teams which could bring about all sorts of permutations, let's at least hope that last game has something to play for. |
| Forum Reply | RIP FA Cup Replays at 10:09 19 Apr 2024
There's an awful lot of anger at this....an awful lot, twitter is full of it and yet the FA have kept very quiet. They'll know they've kicked a hornets nest. Wouldn't be surprised to see a backtrack. Would love the rest of the pyramid to bin the FACup and make the EFL trophy their sole entrance. |
| Forum Reply | Proper 13 year old stuff I know at 16:42 16 Apr 2024
Harsh. That team contained Knudsen, Chambers, Skuse, Jackson and Bart, all players which I liked and couldn't fault their effort. Also note that we had Downes in there. I think we all know that a manager has a massive impact on how well a team does and I'd bet my testicles we'd have not got relegated with McKenna and the team in charge. Don't think blame should be laid soley at the players having seen what they were provided with. Rotten and the top and that's where the culture starts. |
| Forum Reply | Proper 13 year old stuff I know at 13:43 16 Apr 2024
Mass, no, Burns, no wait, Morsy, erm, Chappers, maybe Leif....hmm, could be Big Cam, but Wolfy....even Fridge (what happened to coffee club), JD..what a guy, KJ...the story...Omari, different gravy right? Hirst, wow, Broadhead on song great to watch, Vas! oh my. |
| Forum Reply | Righto, I've done the Math at 15:05 15 Apr 2024
Try predicting those last games and you're a fool. I think we might get through with 1 win and two draws, but we might need 3 wins. Or 2 wins and 1 draw, or 2 wins and a loss..... see what I mean |
| Forum Reply | ITFC paid 1.2miilion paid to agents at 17:30 12 Apr 2024
Not sure how I feel about agents, but then I don't know any that well or the specifics surrounding their job. I'm not saying it's true of football agents, but it does feel like players get milked...it's not like the agents have a short career like footballers. Honest days pay for an honest days work imo, none of this % rubbish, although no doubt the players then see the motivation of the agent to get them as much as possible as it helps them too. Ultimately, a club will only pay what they feel someone is worth though surely? Excluding Chelsea of course. Happy to be educated. |
