Dozzell released by QPR…
at 18:54 12 May 2024

We all wanted him to be a bit special because of his lineage but let’s be honest he’s never done anything as yet. Pretty ineffectual for the most part, went missing for large periods of games, unable to consistently dictate the tempo of a game from that deep lying role. You look at the ingredients it takes to be an effective central midfielder at this level and he’s got very few of them IMO, physically, tactically, perhaps mentally.

Clearly has some technical ability, but he’s basically Kevin Bru albeit with a more favourable surname around these parts.

Wish him well of course, staying at Brum in L1 could be the best move for him if he’s going to get game time.

Yeah not sure I would fancy Elland road at 8 o’clock on Thursday night.

Hopefully everyone behaves, this sort of behaviour is pathetic.

I don’t know why they didn’t play the Sara that’s apparently worth £20m+ today rather than his namesake who looked anonymous and uninterested.

Leeds look absolutely shot to pieces....

I agree. The result often dictates the narrative but the reality is a lot of our games have been fine lines. Most of those we lost and a lot of those we won too. There’s a number of objectively lesser sides who we outplayed, but a lot of the games against the top half were tight affairs.

If there was ever a club that over egged periods of ‘dominance’.

That’s probably right. Although we did catch them very early on at PR when they still had Sinisterra and they basically tore as apart down our right for 20 minutes. Clarke looked like a fish out of water, but then he did on a few occasions and even if fully fit I don’t think he would’ve been our preferred option. I think the plan was clearly for Williams to play there, then Axel did a good job in the run in.

The away game was a bit of a car crash, but again there’s mitigating circumstances. Don’t get me wrong it was a hiding in the end , but it’s fine lines isn’t it. Uncharacteristically bad defending on an early set piece, a pretty avoidable OG, Chaplin hits the post, a cheap penalty and its game over. Those sorts of games you’ve got to keep yourself in, especially with our ability to finish strongly, as we did twice against Leicester.

If we played Leeds at Wembley next week I’d really fancy us. Well maybe not next week, our players will still be p1ssed.

They’ve clearly got a lot of quality hence their results over the season, but the run in and perhaps this afternoon makes you wonder if they’re mentally strong enough. Look like complete bottle jobs any time any sort of pressure is applied on them.

Everyone knows what they’re signing up to at the start of the season. Remove the playoffs and the final throws of the season start to serve up way more guff games. I’m a fan of them, and I would say the same had we finished 3rd and gone out.

Why would you take the 6 points off Southampton out when considering the results against those 5 teams?

Agree about having to be tighter at that back, but that’s true of any team that’s ever been promoted. The reality is the best players in the championship are at best average at premier league level. An ‘easier’ game next year is probably a Leicester, Forest, Bournemouth who are all better than most of the championship. We’ve made a big step already and adapted to it incredibly, but this is a bigger one. McKenna is the man though, I’m sure he’s already planning.

Doesn’t deserve many points to be fair. Bottom 3 of the ones that have gone so far IMO.

City could get a 50 point deduction and they would still stay up. 15 points i would still back them for top 4.

They’re not mutually exclusive. I was at Hull, Coventry and PR last weekend and I spent the whole bank holiday weekend out enjoying it. And have been since, and will continue to. Not sure why it’s such a stretch for people to recognise that can be true, while at the same time finding the online abuse of our players at times this season to be regrettable.

What’s done is done. I think the most important thing is people learn from it as next season will likely see more occasions where we’re on the wrong end of a result, which has tended to be when the OTT criticism reared it’s head this year.
