I've thought similar about Sam over the last week or so. Given that alcohol plays such a massive role in celebrations in the western world, I wouldn't be surprised if the celebrations have been a bit of a strange environment for him given the amount of alcohol being consumed, and with it having almost been the primary focus at times. It was good to see that there was a batch of non-alcoholic beer in the changing rooms, though. Not that it comes as any sort of surprise, given how well the club is run these days. |

I assume that can be translated as: "We're happy that this deduction won't have a material impact upon our ability to stay up this season, so we've decided to save our money and avoid the risk of a further deduction by withdrawing our appeal."? |
| Forum Reply | Hladky Contract at 14:28 10 May 2024
Thanks Kropotkin, that's an interesting insight. I did notice that the big PL handbook that's been shared a few times recently contains a standard form of contract for players. Could a part of it possibly have been a case of not necessarily knowing which standard form would need to be used to form the base of the contract? Or is it possible to draft/sign some sort of conditional contract, the basic content of which depends upon the league in which the club is playing? |

I'd hope (maybe those with better knowledge of such things can add more detail?) that their contracts have been sufficiently well-drafted that a PL wage uplift would be contingent on certain criteria having been met (appearances, 25-man squad inclusion etc.,) rather than just being a case of 'you're contracted to the club, so here's a 100% wage increase'. I'd have thought it would have made it exceptionally difficult to shift those players who won't be joining us on the next stage of our journey, otherwise. |

So, based on your better knowledge of such things, is this potentially a case of VH being happy with the terms on offer, but not having his agent's 'authority' to sign the contract? |
| Forum Reply | Hladky Contract at 14:06 10 May 2024
No ITK knowledge, but my reading between the lines of the interview the other month which said that 99% of it was all ironed out and he was looking forward to signing was that, potentially, there might be some disagreement over squad status in the Premier League. I fully expect us to bring in a new starting GK this summer, and perhaps Hladky and his camp aren't necessarily satisfied with him being bumped down the pecking order. No doubt there are potentially hundreds of reasons, but this feels like the most likely to me. |
| Forum Reply | Ed holding good on his promise to take the players out this evening…. at 07:08 9 May 2024
Chinny's Sports Club in Halesworth apparently. My sister saw some Town players heading in early in the evening, and there was fairly tight security present, not even letting anyone into the car park. Would make sense if they wanted to go for a less obvious venue. |

An interesting alternative opinion on the reasoning/strategy behind welcoming Elphicke:
I don't really know how true this rings, but it's far from the first time I've seen commentators referring to Starmer as wanting to be the next Attlee. |

Seeing as we're on the subject of using the proper (local) names/pronunciations for things, I need to get Bayern Munich off my chest. Absolute b*gger's muddle of a name. Surely it should be either Bayern München, or Bavaria Munich, no? |

£36 all areas probably has had something to do with it as well. Speaking to some Norwich-supporting chums, hiking the prices for this particular match hasn't gone down all that well. |

Fits nicely to 'I know a song that'll get on your nerves' as well: Ipswich are now Premier League Premier League Premier League Ipswich are now Premier League Prem Prem Premier League Literally minutes of fun. |
| Forum Reply | Any whispers on the new 24-25 kit? at 17:09 8 May 2024
From what I read after this season's kits were announced, this season's ensemble was to be the last of the retro-inspired bespoke designs from Umbro. I'm reading that as meaning that we're back to picking out of the Teamwear catalogue for 24/25 onwards. That said, I don't get the rabid obsession amongst fans for 'bespoke' kits. I'd much rather have a good-looking catalogue job than a bespoke dog's dinner. |

A little extra context on Castore's quality issues...

| Forum Reply | Unpopular opinion: I wouldn’t have Sarmiento back next season at 15:33 8 May 2024
I can see both sides of the argument. For me, I've seen a massive change in him over the course of the four months he's spent working with McKenna; very similar to how he has developed Hutchinson over the last nine months. There seem to be a lot of parallels between the two players and how they've changed under KMc. I reckon, if we'd had Sarmiento for the whole season, we'd have ended up with two of the best young talents in the division with him and Hutchinson. If McKenna sees him as having a similar development trajectory to that of Hutchinson, I'd definitely want him for a further season. |
| Forum Thread | Umbro/Castore at 15:29 8 May 2024
Just came across this tweet from FootballShirtCulture, which reminded me of Castore's recent acquisition of Umbro:
A little bit of digging suggests that Burnley's deal with Umbro wasn't due to expire until 2026 ( https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/burnley-kit-umbro-partnershi "Burnley's previous agreement with Umbro concluded in 2022 but the new agreement will see the Manchester-based firm work with the Clarets until 2026." So it potentially looks as if Castore are already migrating clubs over to their own brand, rather than continuing old Umbro deals. I bloody hope that we're not in line for this treatment. From what I've heard, Castore kit quality has been utterly abysmal. |
