Off to Lost in vinyl in Cambridge this morning. Got my eye on the expanded version of Osmium by Parliament. Not an RSD release, but also picking up the English Teacher LP.
Tommy and his brother Dick presented The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour on US TV in the mid to late 60s.
Like much of the TV during that period, their show was broadcast in colour, much of which was preserved.
This clip shows Tommy briefly interviewing then introducing The Who in one of their breakthrough US performances in 67. Keith Moon's "Pictures of Lily" drum kit looks amazing. Although some of the pre song bantz had been semi scripted, what happened at the end certainly wasn't!
Keeping it to albums only and not individual tracks, who has caught your ear this year?
Be good to hear what medium you choose too.
I only purchase vinyl, but listen to streamed music most days, so not sniffy about it. I've always just preferred vinyl.
For me in no particular order:
Gaz Coombes - Turn the car around A Certain Ratio - 1982 Noel Gallagher - Council skies White Label - Other Voices Matt Deighton - Today Become Forever Say She She - Silver
My favourite reissue of the the year was Who's Next by The Who. I got the 4LP version featuring a live gig from 71. Sublime.
