Not too sure who represents him, but he's made some truly bizarre career decisions over the past 2 years. I'm sure there is a great sense of regret from him, as he now looks at our league position. |

Maybe, if we were to take ownership and then loan him out. He'd be a total punt though. I think he's a bit of Troy Parrott Mk2. Plenty of hype, but ultimately a player that is neither a 10 nor an out and out striker, that doesn't net enough to justify playing in the top 2 leagues in this country. '''If'''we go up, we should be setting our sights a lot higher....Harwood-Bellis, Delap, Downes, Carvalho etc... [Post edited 3 May 1:33]

'If' we do go up, i think we will see a similar, strategic approach to recruitment. Young, plenty of potential, huge upscale value etc... You'd think that Hutchinson and Sarmiento could be brought back on loan, or maybe even signed. Hutchinson would probably set us back 15m though, I also think that we could also sweep up some of the top quality loanees that currently play in this division...Downes, Harwood-Bellis, Delap, Rodon, Carvalho but also take some talent of clubs that will inevitably need to cut their cloth e.g Walker-Peters from Southampton, Sara, Jack Clarke, Whittaker, perhaps Stansfield. However, you don't want to create a 'very good' Championship club in the Premier League. We will need to add a few seasoned pros that have played at the highest level. I suspect given McKenna's stock, we will be in pole position for top English and European clubs looking to send talent out on loans. |

You'd think 1 more point would put an end to any gossip like that. Brighton and Ipswich are similar clubs in terms of size, surrounding population, infrastructure etc..i'd be more concerned about a larger Premiership or Bundesliga club coming in for McKenna. With that said, i think McKenna probably quite likes the element of building something (which he has done) the sense of pride that brings. |

We have such exceptional off the pitch leaders and personalities at the club like McKenna and Morsy, that i have no doubt that the squads mind will be in exactly the right place tonight. It's not a question of ability, it's a question of belief now. |

Best jobs are overseas in international schools. You'll be on fantastic package, have your accomodation and utilities paid for, save over 2k a month and you'll teach fantastic kids. Keep it independent and keep it international. I'd never return to teach in the UK. |

Obviously, a big dissapointment to not get anything out of the derby, but in the grand scheme of things, with Leeds losing, the only thing lost was the opportunity to put some distance between them and us. I thought yesterday was a game too far for many of our players, which is totally understandable given the intensity of McKenna's system and how hard some players have been pushing deep into added time recently. For me, Luongo, Morsy, Hutchinson and Moore all looked a little leggy, meaning we didn't really have that snap in midfield and were slow to get up the pitch, press and compete for second balls. The next 2 home games are absolutely massive. I'm sure we'll pack out Portman Road for these next 2 games, make some noise and get fully behind the team as always. If we can pick up 6 points, we 'could' be well set and i think the squad will benefit massively from the 14 day break before the Hull fixture, where the likes of Hirst and Burns may be back to bolster numbers. |

The flip side of that is those fringe players will be desperate to impress and get into play off squads / potentially play at Wembley. Personally, i think things will be decided before that. We need to hope that Leicester keep imploding on and off the pitch. |

You'd hope we could win our remaining 4 home games. In addition to that, a win and a draw in our remaining 3 away games would take us to 97 points. Surely enough ! For me, Leed's have been outstanding and carry such a threat going forward, like ourselves. They however are far more reliable at the back. Leicester are slightly different. Maresca's system doesn't have the ability to blow teams away and i think they may struggle against teams using a low block and scraping for their lives. 1.55 points on average per game since Jan. We just need to keep bettering that ! |
| Forum Reply | Are we ? at 07:45 5 Mar 2024
100% we are. Morsy and Luongo do a hell of a lot of dirty work in the middle of the park and give us the license to be expansive going forward. |
| Forum Reply | Big thread about us on the Sunderland board at 06:01 4 Mar 2024
Financially ruined....carrying little debt, following FFP rules, with huge increases in commercial revenue & TV sponsorship money, maintaining a squad largely comprised of players purchased in League One, with several sellable assets ranging from 5m to 20m plus... Sorry, but that is BS. |

Exactly this. Also, a great opportunity to gain category 1 academy status / fund the redevelop of the Cobbold / develop the training ground. You'd hope the quality of our manager and backroom staff could actually keep us in the division. People wrote off the likes of Brentford, Brighton, Palace et al, who all added shrewdly. No need for a Nottingham Forrest reckless spending approach. |

4 goals thus far from our 2 additions up top. Good business from the club and we're starting to score more freely once again. |

The bench is also infinitely stronger. With the first line up mentioned in the OP, that would leave us with: Walton, Hutchinson, Williams, Taylor, El-Hamadi, Taylor, Broadhead, Harness, Tuanzebe/Burgess as bench options. A huge amount of quality waiting in the wings. Will serve us well for the Sat/Tues craziness that awaits us. |

Gallagher would be okay as he would allow us to play our favoured system. Can't see someone as ambitious as Ashton not ending the window without getting in a striker. |
| Forum Reply | Well the next few months are going to be exciting at 03:49 25 Jan 2024
All depends on whether or not we can bring in a couple of quality strikers. We only face 1 top 8 side in the next 2 months, but my gut feeling is that we may lack the firepower at present to put some of these teams away. Next 6 days are massive for the club |
| Forum Reply | Takeaways from Leicester at 08:36 23 Jan 2024
Completely agree regarding Taylor. Really liked how he showed for the ball and got us going forward last night. Interesting that Sarmiento was down to start. With Morsy and Luongo being such enforcers in the middle of the park, i think he'll really thrive (like Chaplin does) by essentially being able to focus on what he's good at, unlike at West Brom where Corberán required a lot of rigidity from him.
