Decided to go last night and wasn't expecting great things. I thought we played ok. Compared with last pre-season, not much in it. We mostly looked assured at the back. Good passing game and Didzy and Biahop played good touches. Believe that if we can get Webster in to the team as a footballing centre half, then we could be top 6 again. I'd rather we brought through our own players than nursery for premier teams. We will start scoring soon. Unlucky with bar twice and Chambers headers. Could have been 4 -0. Charlton are a good team and will walk league one. |

To be fair I feel that we played a different kind of football today. The match on Tuesday at Cambridge was a lot more smash and grab. This afternoon, we knocked the ball around confidently and I thought showed a level of contained but flowing and intelligent possession football. Trying to play a different kind of game will take time, but I felt Didzy was showing signs of confidence, Frazer and Niles look like great attack minded, skillful players and the youngsters looked promising. I think Yeowerth (spellcheck?) is going to grow into a very commanding centre half by the end of the season. All in all, many reasons to be cheerful. |
