Knudsen and Tabb Back in Squad
Monday, 2nd Nov 2015 13:42

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that left-back Jonas Knudsen is available for Tuesday’s game at home to Bolton having missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Cardiff with the hamstring injury he suffered at Nottingham Forest.

“He’s fine,” McCarthy said. “He joined in training and he’s fit to go. Everybody else is OK.”

Jay Tabb, who scored the only goal in last year’s corresponding fixture, is available again having overcome his hamstring problem.

“Tabby’s back in the squad. Everybody who was fit for Saturday is fit again,” McCarthy continued.

Midfielder Teddy Bishop was left out of the U21s squad which travelled to Charlton today having played his first game in a month last Monday with the Blues continuing to take the 19-year-old’s recovery slowly.

“We’re just trying to strengthen his hamstring up and making sure he gets full strength into it before we send him full tilt,” McCarthy added.

Parr must be gutted. You know he's gona drop him or shunt him on to the wing...

They shouldn't be in the squad let alone in the first 11. A nonsense story

Bring back Tabby, missed him so far this year.

Why so harsh on Tabby and Knudsen. Tabby has rarely let us down and always put in a good shift especially in defensive mode. I acceptthe jury out on Knudsen but Championship football is still very new to him and settling into a new environment cannot be easy.

Deadman to Referee Ipswich v Bolton

Darren Deadman will referee Tuesday's Championship fixture between Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers.

Quite apt with two teams out of form

For a moment then, I thought I read this bit as...

“Tabby's back in the squad. Everybody who was playing Saturday is playing again,” McCarthy continued.

Not too unhappy to see Tabby back in the squad myself. I think he gets a lot of stick, but he's a great professional is Tabby, always puts a shift in. Lovely. Fantastic.

If Knudson is picked it will be harsh on Parr. Whilst he didn't exactly cover himself in glory Saturday, he wasn't any worse than Knudsen's been.

And if Tabb comes back in, it will have to be at the expense of either Sears, Murphy or McGoldrick. MM will have to make his mind up which are his best two strikers and play them in their correct positions.

Will the same rule apply as the goalies? Par stays at left bk.
I don't mind par or knudsen.

Here we go it's not a tabb you need its a manager who knows what he's doing.Still using the same old rubbish and not giving some on the bench a go. Could do no worse.Waiting until the 70th minute is poor judgement. last three home games has shown replacements need to be made at half time.

Knudsen back in for Parr? Can't see it. MM loves a clean sheet more than he does a goal so parr will stay as long as we're not conceding many and unbeaten with him playing in that slot.

Parr for me scored our precious goal v Huddersfield done what was asked of him V Cardiff let down by others not finding space to pass if he not in the team just shows what a two faced B-gge- MM is.

Parr's performance on Saturday was better than anything I've seen from Knudsen. Will be a big mistake if Mick puts Knudsen back in. If Knudsen is going to find his feet he needs to play in a performing side, not a struggling one.

Same team I expect. Shan't be going the nearly 100 round trip is not worth it I am afraid although I will be delighted to see them win well

Now Micks favorite Tabby is fit, wouldn't be surprised to see him start although consider this is back to the future.

Jury out on Knudsen in my opinion. Certainly gas improved the squad which admittedly would have been challenging owing to our previous two left backs.

Tabby isn't good enough if we are serious about promotion. Agree he tries hard, but had been poor since Christmas.

Oh dear. Add them to the rest of the dross !!! We have so many players who would not even get into the squad at Brighton Hull Derby Middbro Burnley Reading etc. None of those teams would want Gerken Chambers Smith Knudsen Tabb Skuse Douglas Coke Toure Oar Murphy etc etc. We are so far away from challenging people need to wake up and see it. Crowds are dwindling fast and while we produce boring clueless rubbish that will continue. Mick you've done all you can and we're grateful but either lose your stubbornness in picking below average out of position players or pop off to retirement in Yorkshire.

Knudson gets turned too easily for my liking. As for Tabby, he's top drawer is Tabby 😁 We desperately need a win now, stick Freddie in his correct position up front tomorrow and I'm confident we'll get it.

....... how exciting ... !!! Knudsen has promise - but is a long way off Championship level - Tabby, we know well and is a workhorse at best. But, of course, is 'top drawer' material in the eyes of a certain person.

On recent performance we need better than either of these will give us.

On the subject of Jay Tabb while not a favourite of mine(oops sorry Mick!!) he always gives his all and tries his best(current back 4 + keeper take a long hard look at yourselves!!) he is an honest pro who does his best!! unlike some who are letting us down big time, I remember Berra being quoted as saying after the man utd league cup tie "this is what I miss gaffer as quoted by our manager!? on here" well Mr Berra get yourself back to some hard bloody work and start playing like the guy who has been so dependable until the last 2 months otherwise go and play in the premiership back in Scotland as on current form you might make the bench at Hamilton Accies!!! while you are driving up there give Chambo and Gerken A lift.

Improvement would be nice to see... We have the ability. But mentally we are less than shabby

I expect Knudsen to replace Parr. I doubt that Parr can manage 2 games in such a short period of time. Actually I thought Parr was ok on Saturday but no better than Knudsen has been.

I also expect Pitman to start for the same reason. Murphy or McGoldrick will be rested from the start and we might see Douglas for Skusey.

Bru must play as he is the one we rely on to make something happen in the midfield in the absence of Fraser and the Bish.

Should be a good game and hopefully we will win but anything is possible in the Championship. What we do know is the players will give their all for the club, the manager and the fans.

"Bolton a good side, great manager, with many good players so I'd be happy with a point from this". So I won't be bothering to turn up or even listen on Ipswich player, what's the point. Wake me up when we play on the green stuff, ban hoofball, give our forwards a bl**dy chance of scoring, but above all give us all some entertainment (sorry can't see it happening though), can you??????? Dumb question I suppose

Prebbs -

So no-one would want:

Murphy? They did in the summer, for a large amount according to reports.
Smith - He has been pretty solid in many games. Not that long ago he was Player Of The Year.
Chambers - A good centre back.
Douglas - Captain of a team that finished above us last season, scoring eight goals along the way.
Oar - A current international who has played a few minutes for us.
Skuse - Are you serious? A key player in the team.

We'd be great if you were manager!
