Knudsen and Tabb Back in Squad
Monday, 2nd Nov 2015 13:42

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that left-back Jonas Knudsen is available for Tuesday’s game at home to Bolton having missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Cardiff with the hamstring injury he suffered at Nottingham Forest.

“He’s fine,” McCarthy said. “He joined in training and he’s fit to go. Everybody else is OK.”

Jay Tabb, who scored the only goal in last year’s corresponding fixture, is available again having overcome his hamstring problem.

“Tabby’s back in the squad. Everybody who was fit for Saturday is fit again,” McCarthy continued.

Midfielder Teddy Bishop was left out of the U21s squad which travelled to Charlton today having played his first game in a month last Monday with the Blues continuing to take the 19-year-old’s recovery slowly.

“We’re just trying to strengthen his hamstring up and making sure he gets full strength into it before we send him full tilt,” McCarthy added.

Tabb has to be bench at best as he is not the future. Yes he's served us well but last season showed his legs have now gone. Knudsen after a promising first couple of games has been found wanting and is not yet ready to play at this level. Parr deserves his place if only for his goal against Forest. He still looks dodgy and his distribution Saturday was woeful. All those who said we wouldn't miss Mings are clearly wrong. Go for Kenlock and lets give youth a chance they can't do any worse.
Three points a must tomorrow. Please drop Murph and play Freddie through the middle and Oar and Niles on the flanks. Pitman to make an impact from the bench as he did on Saturday.

Luxury players are usually associated with attacking players with a bit of flirt who are a bit lazy. But I now think that Skuse is our luxury player. Yes he breaks up attacks but he does very little else. Personally I would play (when it) Bishop, Ham and Bru in a 4-3-3 formation.

I think that Knudsen should be given time in order to adjust o new country, a new league and good old fashioned hoof ball.

Tabb never lets down the team and runs from box-to-box. Something SKUs doesn't.

Williams you must be a slack supporter if you cant do a 45 miles trip and back to support your team.

Strange statement. You don't know what his domestic circumstances are. Plus, he wouldnt be the first to be suffering from supporter appathy in the present climate.

Mattinlondon - I couldn't agree with you more. I'm completely at a loss to what Skuse is offering. I don't even think he breaks up play that well. I had a rant about him Saturday. He's so lethargic It's spreads throughout the side. Everyone's been pointing the finger at Douglas, Chambers, Gerken and who knows else but Skuse is doing very little and what's worse, he's going completely under the radar to most people. 100 games 1 goal and how many assists? Not many...

Praying for Bishop and Hyam. I'd love to see Douglas start in there with Bru tomorrow.

Call me shat you like millsey I still shan't be going. You might be happy watching that rubbish but I am not. Having been going since 1974 enough is enough. I still want them to do well and hope they prove me wrong but the last few years have not been entertainment

Welcome back Tabby, that's what I say. Put him straight in. Maybe what we have been misdiagnosed the last 6weeks, someone with an engine to chase down, put in a tackle & a few headers.. We had it last year but it's been missing so far..along with Murphs scoring boots..

Correction to my earlier post.........Parr scored our precious goal against Notts Forest and should keep his place at left back if mm is loyal to all the squad and not just his favorites,,,,,,,,,,,must and should win comfortably tonight or something is seriously wrong here.

Tabb will go straight into the first 11. He's a different class to our other midfielders. Can see him scoring tonight. As for Knudsen, still not sure about him.

It will be great to see Tabb terrorising opposition defences once again. His work rate will massively relieve our defence.

PragmaticBlue ... I fully respect your opinion but maintain the right to mine. I'm not saying I should be the manager just that we are close to the point where we may need a change of direction. If you look at your reply I think it's flawed. Yes they apparently wanted to pay a lot for Murphy in the summer. We should have taken it. Last season he was exceptional but time moves on. Ask Boro what they would pay now. They are breathing a huge sigh of relief. 2 one on ones Saturday and never did he look like scoring, he is a liability and pitman is miles better. Smith WAS player of year yes but in his correct position. He has no right foot and panics when he has to use it has cost us numerous points starting with Derby at home last season and has gone on to make numerous mistakes since. Chambers a good centre back (better than RB for sure) so play him in his position then !!! Douglas, well he is as slow as me around the pitch 8 goals last season really doesn't look like being repeated now does it honestly !!! Oar a current international (Australia that hit bed of the football world) does than mean we should sign up players who play for Gibraltar or the Faroe Islands??? Did you see his passing when me Stubborn put him on on Saturday?? He attempted 7 and completed 0. Ans Skuse was a key player for our team when he had a younger more energetic forward thinking player alongside him but has been massively underperforming this season having to cover for Douglas.

As I say I hugely respect your opinion but there is a reason why this so called better squad is worse than last year and that is a manager who refuses to drop his favourites, continues to pick players out of position and also players who massively over achieved last season who are falling below those levels this season and would not get anywhere near the team at a top 6 club. This team / manager will not get us promoted and I hate that fact as much as every other true town fan.

The manager is close to losing fan support as seen by rapidly dwindling attendances which is worry as ME will need to put in more cash to keep us afloat rather than investing in the playing staff

Thanks for listening Pragmatic and I really hope Mick and the boys prove me wrong !!!

Skuse a key player Saturday Prebs? No chance.
Skuses poor performances can't be attributed to another player either.
They're either down to tactics, form or ability.

Agree Keanish. I was trying to say Skuse was a key player when he had bish or Bru in front of him last season. This season like MANY others he has been useless. Obviously I'm not a true supporter by criticising any of our players according to some in the crowd. I got moaned at Saturday for berating another hoof from Smith's right foot, another gilt edged chance messed up by Murphy, another terrible pass from Skuse, another useless punt from Chambers. Yeah our players are all top quality... Not. Hence we are a mid table team at best and Mick is on borrowed time.

Class is permanent and form is temporary Prebbs.

All these guys play at a high professional level. However, form and confidence can affect anyone. In a team game it is easy for that to be infectious. We started well but clearly something has gone wrong, almost certainly temporarily even if longer than any of us would have imagined. The team is basically the same as last season's - they were heroes then. We aren't the only team to have a dip, look at Chelsea!

In my last post I said I was glad you aren't the manager. If you are under 35 I'm surprised you aren't in the team! You really do appear to be Mr Football!

This is the first time in the 3 years MM has been in charge that we appear to be going backwards. Calls for MM head seem to be a little premature to me. Lets see where we are come jan 1st. A couple of wins and some confidence will do us good.
