Town Down to Third Following Leeds Win
at 23:47:22

Leeds looked a little shaky in defence tonight but created plenty of chances and got the 3 points. Both Leicester and Leeds have put wins on the board and could each be a further 3 points in credit by the time we next play. Town cant look to other teams messing up. Just got to win the games we have. Such a shame Burns and Hurst are injured as we look a little impotent, attack wise, if Moore/Hutchinson arent doing the biz. The squad have been superb this season......so close to the finish line.......3 more big efforts lads!

Put players in their correct position (Hutch). Hook off Jackson (poor) and Luongo (tired) and it was a completely different game

Ipswich Town 3-2 Cardiff City - Match Report
at 17:19:30

Get in! Not sure how we won that but an absolute squad effort. Hladky, Morsey, Davis and Ladapo were excellent. The subs made a big difference as well and saw us over the line.

Passing was woeful, slow and inaccurate, first 60 and we had to work twice as hard to get it back. Clarke struggled but had no cover from Burns. Vladky kept us in it and somehow clawed back into it from a Broadhead wonder strike. He, Chaplin and Burns has all been ineffective to that point. Subs came on and changed it. Hutchinson did really well and for 10 mins we looked like world beaters. Seeing Chaplin, Broadhead and Morsey going down with exhaustion/cramp shows the tremendous effort put in by all on a really warm day. Well done lads! 3 points.

Enjoy your evenings. COYB

Get in! Great effort by all. Looked nervous first half but played brilliantly for periods in second......then say back!

The injury time is a joke. Surely, with modern technology, a refs watch can link to the scoreboard. The ref can then stop his watching throughout the game rather than adding some made up number.

Morsey, Luongo and Hirst immense. Woolfy and Burgess solid. Vladky looked nervy but made two vital saves at the end. Well done everyone. COYB

McKenna: Chambers a Very Important Captain and Leader in the Club's History
at 22:04:50

Sorry, this is the problem with modern society. Cannot separate the factual from maudlin, cloying nonsense.

Was he loyal...absolutely. Did he give it his all.....definitely. Did he do a lot for the club off the pitch...without a doubt. Compared to many lower level league players did he enjoy a long and fruitful career......certainly earned a flipping good wage for many a year.

Was he a really good player....nope. Did he oversee(as captain) a successful time in the clubs history....nope. Even at his best would he have found a position in the current team....nope.

Morsy: Title Would Be the Icing On the Cake
at 12:11:05

The form of the last 20 or so games and some of the quality of football, particularly the last 8 or 9 games, has just been fantastic to watch. Morsey has been at the heart of that and its a genuine pleasure to watch him play.

Great to hear the lads will be going all guns out for the league title. For me, the icing on the cake was the 6-0 win last Saturday that got us over the line. League 1 has to be the most difficult league to get promoted from and, until we brought in Luongo, Clarke, Broadhead and Hirst, I really had my doubt we would even stay in the playoffs. So pleased for all concerned.

McKenna: Coach Greeting Will Be a Big Boost
at 19:25:55

Cannot speak highly enough of the players, manager, staff, fans and club as a whole. Feels like a breath of fresh air and exciting times to be a supporter of ITFC.

For me, the celebrating can wait until Town get the job done. Exeter wont be an easy game and the champagne will only pop if/when we get the three points. Concentration time!

Fans Urged to Stay Off the Pitch
at 18:07:26

Totally agree with staying off the pitch. There have been some unsavoury incidents over the years and not nice to see. Whether its goading the opposition fans, ripping up the pitch/seats, abusing players etc.

Also, a bit of a presumption that we are going to have something to celebrate after 90+ mins. Lets get the job done, win the chuffing game and get promotion. Applaud and cheers the players n staff, then celebrate after.

Barnsley 0-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 22:04:28

Tight first 30 minutes played at a breath taking speed. But, after that, what a truly unbelievable performance from every single player! Against 4th in the league, who have won their last 9 at home.....average 2.5 goals a game at home.....beat Plymouth 3-1......beat Sheff Wed 4-2.......and the lads turn up and do that to them. Just amazing. Walton so reassuring and made saves when he need to. The defence.....wow......rock solid. Tireless running from the midfield and calmness on the ball.....Morsey was pure class. Hirst found his feet after thirty mins and showed his work rate, strength and finishing ability.

Take a bow players, staff and travelling fans. One more win. COYB

Ipswich Town 2-1 Port Vale - Match Report
at 22:41:24

Well done lads, needed the win....and got it. Cant rely on other teams slipping up.....as this evening showed.

Everyone mucked in but Morsey/Luongo/Woolfy/Burgess/Broadhead were standouts for me. Edwards was dangerous when he came on. Perhaps get Woolfy practicing his 20 yarders if teams are gonna sit that deep. He had so much space. Also, should vary the corners/corner taker. 10 corners and never really looked liked scoring. But other than that just relieved and pleased for all concerned with the win! Some tough games ahead, lets stick together COYB!

Think its easy to look at stats and base player performance upon it......and forwards will always benefit the most. Just look at Cristian Ronald....did nothing in games and then popped up with a goal (less than 1 in 2 goal in premiership total before I get shouted down). Messi had goals, assist AND unbelievable skill to go past players. Would love to have seen the goal scoring ratio of Gerd Muller, El Phenomenon, Greaves, Puskas/Kocsis etc if they had the fitness/nutrition/diet/pitches/rules of modern day football.....I digress

Chappers has scored a hatful of of goals but his all round performance has been excellent. Woolfy, Davis, Walton have all had very good seasons. Personally I think Morsey has been immense. His movement, strength and passing have been a real asset to the club. A PROPER captain leading by EXAMPLE.

Unlucky lads. Walton been brilliant so certainly forgive the error.

Thought we did really well given the conditions...and only one team came to win that game. They were time wasting after 5 mins & the crowds reaction at the end....cheering as if they'd won the league....says it all.

Could be a vital point! COYB

TWTD League Calculator 2022/23

Think we will pick up a decent amount of points in the remaining games.....maybe a loss here, a couple of draws there. But we are already playing catch up and I cant see where either the top two are going to drop enough points for us to overtake them.

I cant help but think we are play off bound and will meet Barnsley in the play off final......ala 2000. Just hope the outcome is the same.

Walton: You Have to Mix It Up and I Think We Do That
at 11:07:42

Apart from the last 9 minutes....I dont think we mixed it up at all. Very slow in build up. The same 4-5-1. Predictable for the opposition to get back into place and know who and where to mark.

It really doesnt hurt to try swap it around for 10 minutes and try something else. Be more direct. Instead Town just keep banging their heads against a brick wall hoping for a different outcome.

Come on Mckenna, youre a good manager with a good squad.....but less words and more action.............AND GOALS!
