EFL Publishes 2023/24 Squad Lists
Thursday, 7th Sep 2023 22:47

The EFL has published the squads submitted by its clubs following the closure of the transfer window last week.

Championship clubs are limited to naming 25 senior players in their squad, unlike League One including goalkeepers and loan players aged under 21, those born on or after January 1st 2002, in Town's case Omari Hutchinson, Brandon Williams and Dane Scarlett.

Players under 21 on permanent deals - who include Cameron Humphreys, Cieran Slicker and Elkan Baggott at Town - don’t count towards the 25 but are available for selection.

Town’s named squad is, as expected, 24-strong with fourth-choice keeper Nick Hayes left out.

That allows the Blues to add another senior signing to their squad with talks continuing with free agent former Manchester United central defender Axel Tuanzebe.

There's some hilarious middle names amongst that lot, especially Jackson and Ladapo, should at least increase the banter in training next week !!

No Baggott so if Tuanzebe doesn’t sign leaves us short at CB or can Baggott then be added if he doesn’t sign?

All the under 21 squad can play as well as the 24 named I understand, so Elkan Baggott is in

Had to do a double take on a couple of those names. Clarke and Harness threw me for a second.
Room for one more. Hopefully a CB.

Can we set up a gofundme page to raise money to purchase middle names for Lee Evans and Leif Davis?
Unless any of their more over-endowed colleagues want to donate a middle name to them!
Don't want any feelings of inferiority in our great club!

I can't see Tawanda Chirewa in there. Did he not sign a contract extension? Wikipedia says he's still with us. Anyone know what happened and where he's gone?

ta, i read that he was offered new terms. that was back in June when Aluko and Luongo were offered deals too. Haven't heard anything since and can't see anything in google search either. I remember he had PL teams interested too, searching today I saw it was Arsenal and West Ham.

Chirewa's contract was up in the summer and he turned down the new terms which were on offer.

Gforce Their names are not hilarious, they're just not English. It's easy to unthinkingly cause offence.

I’m not suggesting they are all world beaters but I don’t think there’s a single filler in that 24 that can’t at least ‘do a job’ for the team. Very impressive, especially when you weigh in some of the youngsters we have.

Thanks Phil. Looks like maybe he hasn't been snapped up by a PL side I'd guess.

Freddie's parents had a sense of humour when they named him! Look at those initials. Bless him. We love you big Freddie.
