Town Issue PA Survey
Thursday, 14th Jul 2022 11:14

Town have sent a survey to some fans who attended Tuesday’s friendly against West Ham United, quizzing them on the recently upgraded PA system.

The new PA was one aspect of the summer upgrade to Portman Road’s infrastructure with work having started towards the end of last season.

However, several fans reported that they noticed little if any improvement in the sound system during Tuesday’s match.

Town explain in a survey email received by a number of supporters this morning that it will “take up to three home matches to balance the correct levels in each area of the stadium” while canvassing opinion on the sound at the Hammers match.

I was in block H2 and it seemed much louder, almost too loud. However I could actually hear what was being said!

Didn't think there was any difference in block I. Also Foz doesn't have a clear enough voice for the PA.

I git the survey, block Y you couldnt hear a thing apart from the safety message which was deafening. I fulled out the survey on the Tannoy and emailed about the safety message. To be fair they came back straight away with a thank-you and are clearly taking it seriously

I was in Block N and it was so loud I could not hear the person sittting 2 seats away and I could not hear anything clearly that Foz was saying. As for the emergency evacuation announcement that was so loud it was rediculous. ITFC sort it out and quickly!!!!

I was in block Y, and I couldn't a PA in the distance, but it wasn't anywhere near loud enough to be able to make out anything.

I was in the SBR lower behind the goal and never heard one announcement. I just thought well they've not got around to sorting it yet. Was the starting line up given out just before the whistle?

sounds like something they could play around with during the supporters day. Make a game of it, sit down or stand up if it s too loud/quiet

Was in block M, I could hear the rubbish music, but could not hear a thing the stadium announcer said, very quiet and distorted. Unfortunately the survey didn't give you an opportunity to explain!

Fally blue. Would have been a good idea to have a comments section, for sure hut therewas adhesion asking if the announcements were inaudible so hopefully that will be enough for them to work on getting it sorted.

I was in H2 and could not hear the PA other than as background noise. Agree with the comments that the emergency announcement was painfully loud. Now, if I couldn't hear the PA, how on earth was I able to comment on the quality?🤷‍♂️

More important than the Pa …. On the night when 15000 people come to the ground feeling hot and all you want is a beer the service is terrible and archaic.

A can of Carlsberg is what 90p …. Why not have 30 ready for half time…. At £6 a point if you wasted 10 so what compared with the revenue you would have got….

I am an accountant and whoever is doing the costings with Mark Ashton needs a serious think because there wee loads of people who gave up… madness and average to say the least…

Sat in section P row P and the audio was shocking all night, 5 of us together didnt hear the line ups, substitutions or anything else. Was he talking into a pillow or a microphone? Some people on here are saying it is not finished yet, more like it has not been started yet. Plus i don't think the announcers voice/tone is compatible with a good matchday announcer. I am sure he is a nice bloke but I am more likely to fall asleep at the tone, rather than be motivated to deliver fortress PR.
