Walters: Take Me Home Country Roads!
Thursday, 30th Aug 2018 11:53

Former Town captain Jon Walters has issued a big hint that he’s on his way back to the Blues by posting a photo on social media indicating that he’s travelling to Ipswich today and is already in Suffolk, adding the hashtag #TakeMeHomeCountryRoads.

TWTD was first to reveal that Town are in talks regarding 34-year-old’s return to Portman Road from Burnley on loan yesterday.

Walters’s Instagram post, which shows him on the A14 at Newmarket, is evidence the move has continued to progress and he is expected at the club today to undergo a medical and complete the formalities relating to the move, which is a loan switch until January.

Get the Wimbledon captain / centre back, and we are all sorted til the next transfer window. Then, just down to the squad to play us up the table. First part of Project Hurst completed.

If he is at at least 75% of his powers he is exactly what we need. Exactly what we need if able

We could try what Allardyce did with Crystal Palace. Get Walters to hold the ball up as a target man/deep lying forward and have two inside forwards/strikers run ahead from deeper positions whether it be Jackson & Harrison or maybe Jackson & Edwards. Would be worth a try. Would need to sacrifice Nolan as attacking midfielder though to hold a solid midfield 3 though.

Was my favourite player until Keane messed up. Don't worry about age, Murgh is a year older and still banging them in for Forest. He can be invaluable to this inexperienced squad. Score the winner on Sunday and you will be a legend. If you sign, welcome back Jon.

Yes he is an older player, but still has premiership class / experience and is a loan, so little risk. Could be just what we need. Less pace than before but has a great football brain, will def add something to the mix. Welcome back!

A quality player and why shouldn't he still be able to do the business. He may lack some pace now but we have lots of that in the squad now. He came from the lower leagues when he came here so there is so much he can share and teach to the new strikers to help them adjust. He is a great example of what you can get from a lower leagues and seeing what he has achieved will spur the new guys on.. There are so many reasons why this is a great signing.

Good news. Just hope he is not up front on his own. Won't have the legs for that.

@bedsitfc - wouldn't you want to leave if Keane was manager?

the maps condensed, basically zoomed it out and all notable locations are shown.
if his fit and stay's that way, could be good to have around.

Heard there was an accident on the A14 earlier around 11.40am. Some guy taking photos of his satnav near Newmarket apparently drove into a tractor with a wagon on the back full of Norwich fans crossing the A14. Was thrown 30 metres from the car but got all the budgies. Last seen dragging himself by a robotic arm past Bury St Edmunds shouting, "Got to get home, FFS. Tell Roberts I want my number 19 back".

Genius on Wikipedia

Walters joined Ipswich on loan from Burnley in August 2018 just in time to feature against Norwich, score a 93rd minute volley and celebrate by “Kuqi diving” into the Lower Sir Bobby Robson Stand. Following this, he single-handedly brought Ipswich up to the premiership in the 2018/19 season after scoring a hat trick against Derby in the play-off final.
