Stoke Linked With Knudsen Bid
Wednesday, 1st Aug 2018 19:46

Stoke City are reported to have made a £1 million bid for Blues left-back Jonas Knudsen.

Rumours that the Potters are keen on the Danish international have been circulating on social media for a number of days, while Town recently made an offer to Scunthorpe for another left-back, Conor Townsend, who subsequently joined West Brom. Now, the Daily Telegraph report that they have made a bid of around £1 million.

Knudsen, 25, has only a year left on his Blues contract and speaking last week manager Paul Hurst said he is in no hurry to offer the former Esbjerg fB man a new deal.

“If he sees it that he’s in the last year of his contract and he thinks he’s going to start looking elsewhere, then I can’t do anything about that,” Hurst said. “I might not want him.

“At the minute, he’s got to prove himself, all the lads in there have got to prove themselves still, even if at this moment in time I’m not going to make an absolutely definitive decision on who I would like long-term and who I won’t on the basis of some pre-season games because we all know when the season gets under way some will naturally improve, some might drop."

No he's not the best but gives his all every game has scored some great goals against the scum and is improving every season whos to say he couldnt improve even further under Mr Hurst because one things for sure all these league 1 players thT ARE POTENTAILY ARRIVING are going to have to improve on their last years performances

For me only ever played well against Norwich, for the right price i'd sell. I'm sure PH will have targets & so far I'm more than happy with what he's brought in, COYB!

In the current market you would expect to fetch £1.8-£2.25 million. With just a year left on his contract this may have to drop to £1-£1.25 million. I feel it is a good time for Knudsen to move on and in new surroundings. He may well exceed his talent and be worth £5 million in a couple of years time.

Don't really want to see him go, also I don't think Kenlock is quite ready to step up yet, would have to get reinforcements if they want to let Knudsen go

People banging on about the 'current market'. Barring a couple of goals against norwich, jonas has been awful. No ability on the ball, terrible distribution, not very strong, not particularly quick.

As a supporter we can sometimes have blinkers on. The Knuds never quite has excelled but for most that is in comparison to Cresswell and Mings.... he has and probably never will be at that level. The likes of Kenlock, when played, have proved at least as good and perhaps more progressive.

I always have to consider that a manager (who I haven't lost faith in) should be a better judge than me and if he is looking for an attacking full back then sell and move on. It seems we already have options in that position esp with today's signing.

PH rebuilding is happening!!

£1M how will we sleep at night taking that much for him?

DIfficult - he's improving rapidly but he's also a long throw specialist at a home ground with very limited space around the pitch. Reminds me a bit of young Neil Thompson but significantly more slightly built. We could persist with him but if there's a decent offer and he wants to leave then I don't think we should stand in his way.

Would be more than happy to see him moved on especially after he opened his mouth 'defending his buddy McCarthy' against the will of the 'majority of fans'!

Marcus must be loving this!! Could bring in around £12m this close season and may spend about £5 at a push. Hope I am wrong but can see it coming.

Poor positioning , poor touch , doesn't stop crosses enough, gobbed off against supporters after MM left and was not better than Parr or Kenlock get rid

Improving asset who can cover at centre back. No guarantee he will be starting left back as Kenlock improves but we need competition for places. Always gives 100% effort. Definitely worth more than 1m as a current Danish international even if in the least year of his contract.

Gatesofdelirium sensible post. After being spoiled with Cresswell & Mings we were spoilt.

Knudsen appeared a poor replacement at first but he has continued to improve & his attitude & commitment on the pitch can never be in question. Worth more than Stoke are offering.

We cant sell all our Championship players & get in League 1 & 2 otherwise we will be relegated!

I'm totally shocked Stoke would offer £1m. I'd have thought he's worth about 500k tbh. I prefer the youngster think they are better. Sell before they change their mind!
It's a useful million for PH's rebuilding job and the guys he wants to bring in.

Those on here saying wait for £2m must be living in a beautiful fantasy land! 😂😂😂

Frankly, I'd bite their hand off. Knudsen really is a very average left back. Maybe Hurst has noted Knudsen's frequent “ jog back to the edge of our box”, after he's invariably lost possession on the half way line!

I'd always hoped that Knudsen would push on develop once he'd got his feet in English football. But he never really has IMO, and his remark about , “ needing to review his situation at the Club”, once it became clear McCarthy was on his way, sealed it for me. Who ( or what), the hell does he think he is)??

Stoke, your welcome to him, but since you've got PL parachute money, we'll join the insane transfer fee demands merry go round... let's call it £3m and he's yours ! Bargain for ya!

Knudsen's throw ins at the WC looked better. He had a good run-up at that stadium which enabled a lower trajectory. I am ok with $2 million.

Re Garner, did I miss any news or rumours?
